Whether you use them for reaching potential customers, interact with people, or to generate content, Social Media is a power tool for businesses. Check out some of the most popular online networks and how much of an impact they each have.

Marty Note
Love being able to compare key metrics across social nets.Wish they had stayed with the SAME metric for time on site throughout however. They switch from days to months and that makes Instragam appear as if it has more time on site than Facebook (it doesn't).

These figures displayed in the infographic help show just how powerful social media sites are. Unsurprisingly Facebook has one of the highest amount of users  which could suggest when it comes to an IMC program and using social media, Facebook should be strongly taken into consideration alongside the other platforms shown in this infographic.

Social Benefits of Blogging via Social Media Today

Social Benefits of Blogging via Social Media Today | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Getting results from social media can mean more traffic for your website, a bigger fanbase, more sales for products, or more awareness for your brand. Every company that is considering social media needs to define their own goals.
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Mary makes great points about social benefits of blogging. I loved her idea about putting Facebook likes in the middle of a post since it breaks up the text and is an attention getter. Blogging is the bicycle riding of our content marketing times.

Had someone tell me in a meeting the other day they couldn't write due to a learning disability. Suggested they video blog or use Tumblr instead. We are moving to a more visual time anyway so there are always ways to support your content with blogging even if you can't write.

This article is reason and motivation to keep on blogging. I especially like the idea of blogging as a way to thank my followers and increase engagement on other social media platforms like Twitter.

Valerie van S's curator insight, January 21, 6:30 AM
How Blogging Has Helped My Social Results

From the article...I often get asked how to get more likes on Facebook. While the fastest way to get more fans is to use Facebook advertising (yup I said it) my best results have come from blogging. When I see a spike in my numbers on Facebook, it is almost always right after a blog post I wrote has gotten a lot of exposure.

Content- to be or not to be.
Intriguing Networks's curator insight, December 18, 2013 3:20 AM

Thanks for this, most interested in the predictions about real people feature inncreasigly in content, it reads somewhat ironically doesn'tit with all the social interactions everyone is engaged upon?

I am pondering whether its more about authenticity that underpins the real people and events and havig something that actually connects emotionally as well as logically as more than a conversion click?

In the UK there has been a real swing in mainstream xmas advertising led by an upmarket Department store chain called John Lewis, the others have tried to copy but they have not done it as well. The Ad hardly mentions the brand or the product and the feature is a costly animation. Interesting to see such emotive content and everyone is talking about it around the Xmas campaigns. Guess its a bit resonant with the Apple Think Different Ads. So how Companies trnslate that into streams of online content that fit the overall Brand Strategy is going to be interesting...

Theres a post about Facebook's Compassion and Content Strategy Teams and how they are researching and refining dealing with annoying content, may seem off-track but in terms of the future of Content Marketing understanding how not to endup with users tuning out may well be key? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/16/facebook-compassion_n_4441716.html strikes me that in business content we will face similar and significant challenges in the battle against the white noise even more so now Facebook say theya re carefully rolling out auto play video ads the bane of most users and the price they pay for a free platform...

Food for thought thanks again!

Likes, Tweets and The State of Social Media Marketing

Likes, Tweets and The State of Social Media Marketing | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Okay, people are all-eyes-and-ears on social media. But attention doesn’t always equate to productivity. So is it really working?
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

We will know we are truly THERE when there isn't a need for an article like this, an article that sings social media's praise as if it was needed. Sad thing is we still need reassurance.

It is as if we can't get comfortable with what is clear and right in front of us. The old ways are more than gone they are all but fogotten. The new ways are here and have been for longer than most realize.

Net effect? We will know we've successfully arrived at NOW when we no longer have a need for an article like this until then read away.

Thanks Marty, much appreciated. We're having such a great time with Mack and the #blogchat community. There is amazing knowledge share and fun going on and it's been an incredibly rewarding experiencing bringing the two communities together and I'm learning a ton. Join us if you can!
Kelly Hungerford's curator insight, December 11, 2012 3:20 PM

I saw this tweet today from Marty and laughed. He's got such a great sense of humor. I highly doubt that his blog isn't ready for 2013. From what I enjoy from his blogs, he is the master of content and keeping readers loyal, so my guess is that he's got it all under control.

But in any case, we hope to see him and anyone who wants to exchange ideas, tips and best practices as well as share in some festive seasonal fun!

Paper.li joined forces with Mack Collier's #blogchat for the month of December and we've been having a blast. It's an early wake-up call for Switzerland - 3am, but it's well worth it! Join us and check it out!

I previously curated this piece into Curation Revoluiton, but, on the eve of Christmas, I'm moving it to Startup Revolution because startups need to focus on making content as strategic as every other aspect of their marketing. If you are a startup is your blog/content strategy ready for Christmas?

Some great Business 2 Community analysis on Pinterest in 2014. Visual marketing is exploding and Pinterest sits in the middle of that wave. Here are my favorite predictions from the list of 9:

Men Still Wont Get Pinterest.
Pinterest API is released.

Trademark crack down as ads ramp (was inevitable and once  brands are paying big bucks they will demand Pinterest police the ecosystem better).

Emergence of Social/Search In 2014
Just as Einstein collapsed space and time into Space/Time 2014 will see the reality of Social/Search. Social/Search is, again much like Einstein's Space/Time, a seamless fabric where one concept contributes to the other in a dance so intimate it is impossible to tease them apart.

The promise of Social/Search has been sitting in the room for a few years. 2014 will see the reality of Social/Search.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

The B2B Soical Embrace

I'm increasingly convinced the greatest ROI from social media marketing (SMM) will come at the enterprise level. When we use SMM for customer service, HR and business intelligence the ROI will fall like a neavy Texas spring rain. This infographic provides facts and figures to back up this belief.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest – 2012′s Most Amazing Social Media Statistics [INFOGRAPHIC]

FIPT = Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

FIPT or Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter have put up some amazing numbers this last year proving SMM is here to stay and here for real. Debate the ROI at your company's marketing peril.

Time to get into the social media deep in is upon Internet marketers. As I stated in Social Media Marketing The Most Important ROI, the key isn't what SMM does to the bottom line thought as this infographic proves those kinds of returns are coming.

Social media marketing's most powerful return is how it changes US as the wall between US and THEM slips silently into the past.
