Love being able to compare key metrics across social nets.Wish they had stayed with the SAME metric for time on site throughout however. They switch from days to months and that makes Instragam appear as if it has more time on site than Facebook (it doesn't).

These figures displayed in the infographic help show just how powerful social media sites are. Unsurprisingly Facebook has one of the highest amount of users  which could suggest when it comes to an IMC program and using social media, Facebook should be strongly taken into consideration alongside the other platforms shown in this infographic.

What Social Media Is Most Important To You?

What Social Media Is Most Important To You? | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Most Important Social Media
Friend asked a great question but in the wrong way. Social Media isn't important to me in and of itself, but each social media channel can help communicate marketing messages and thus become valuable and important.

Key is "matching the hatch" to borrow a fly fishing term.

Matching the hatch puts the right kind of content, what Gary Vaynerchuk calls "native content', on each social net when THAT information is important to communicating a marketing message. Here is how I answered:

Depends on what I'm trying to accomplish.

If I want comments and discussion GPlus.
If I want feedback from friends Facebook.
If I want to generally test Scoop.it.
If I want a "set it and forget it" content solution Paper.li.
If I have something happening now or want to newsjack Twitter.
To raise money on creative or gaming projects Kickstarter.
If I want to share videos YouTube.

If I want to serialize stories Storify.
If I want to test an infographic Pinterest.
If I want to do something with audio then SmartCloud.
If I want to create sustainable and potentially "evergreen" content then I use WP blogs. Content becomes "evergreen" based on how it performs (views, shares, conversions).
If I want to sell something ecom then Shopify.

Match the hatch to get the most from your content, your growing social media tribe, your time and content marketing and curation efforts.

How to Setup Your Brand New Pinterest Business Page | Jeffbullas's Blog

How to Setup Your Brand New Pinterest Business Page | Jeffbullas's Blog | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Pinterest is booming. The site grew to 26.7 million unique visitors last month. This rapid growth has drawn businesses, especially retailers, to expand their presence on the site. Pinterest has just announced Pinterest pages for business.

My, those folks over at Pinterest have been busy! In the space of a few short weeks, users have been surprised by 3 new rollouts – verification of Pinterest accounts, the introduction of secret boards and now, the ability to create business pages.

So what does this new update mean for business owners? After all, it was not too long ago that Pinterest was warning us about self-promotion and commercial usage was downright prohibited.
Nevertheless, thousands of businesses have flocked to Pinterest since its inception in 2009 to create accounts and drive brand awareness in the hope of boosting sales.

Perhaps Pinterest has finally acknowledged that it’s time to woo the business community right before the crucial holiday season? Or maybe it’s testing the water for its monetization plans?...

[This is a positive development for marketers with one caveat. Watch for the terms of reference. Pinterest owns all material posted; not always the right situation for every business. ~ Jeff]

Building Consumer Trust With Pinterest

Building Consumer Trust With Pinterest | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Find out how to build consumer trust with Pinterest. Written by Vincent Ng of MCNG Marketing.

Via Kelly Lieberman
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Great tips here for the mystery wrapped in an enigma social network - Pinterest. Pinterest is the most asynchronous of social nets meaning its hard to map putting in 2 and taking out 3.

Love the multi-channel nature of the tips here. Pinterest is an important community builder. Here are a few tips I would add:

* Pinterest is most focused on Pinterest and pinning.

* Pinterest demographics are 6 to 4 women.
* Pinterest community boards are amazing because they take care of themselves lowering your social media costs and increasing results.

The other reason Pinterest creates trust is its is so beautifully visual. Does put pressure on your visual marketing, but get used to that as all of our visual marketing is under pressure now whether we fully realize it or not :). M

Is Your Company A Social Media SNOB? Take Our You Know Your A Social Media Snob If...Test

Is Your Company A Social Media SNOB? Take Our You Know Your A Social Media Snob If...Test | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Social Media Snob Test
The purpose of social media is to connect, to BE SOCIAL. Better to NOT be on social media than to be on social and look like an arrogant snob. Not being on social can be forgiven. Being a snob in this day an age is difficult to forgie.

You Know Your Company Is A Social Media Snob If...

* You follow less than 50% of your Twitter followers.
- Following a tiny % of your followers is the ultimate snobbery because it limits communication (you can't DM unless you follow) and you can't REWARD unless you follow.
- When an expert in your area with 10x the following as your company has (at the moment) follows you FOLLOW THEM BACK!!

* You company doesn't Retweet.
- When you Retweet you share someone's take. You are saying, "this is good enough to share" and that statement is a reward and and a way to "mentor" your space.

* Your company doesn't respond to @yourcompany notes.
- Not responding in a timely way to @yourcompany notes is an EPIC customer service fail.

* Your company isn't on GPlus.
- Time to come in for the big win AND Gplus is the most disruptive social net because of its proximity to high yield SEO (duy its GOOGLE) and most business verticals are nascent on GPlus because there is a learning curve.

* Your company isn't having conversations.
- If you are still using social media to push messages without listening and responding you look either clueless or a snob (and neither of those are good).

* Your Company isn't on Instagram or Pinterest.
- Marketing communication is becoming highly visual so to not be on either Instragram or Pinterest is snobby since it feels like insisting we continue to do things the old "talk about ourselves to ourselves" way.

* Your company isn't creating video.
- Video is highly widget-ized and so easy to share content. Video is also a more universal language. I may not speak english but video, done right, can be a cross cultural tool.

* Your company[s SMM is highly scripted.
- Days of scripting every interaction with customers is long gone.

Don't be a social media snob either by intention or ignorance because being a SNOB on social media is the wrong signal to send...always.

Pinterest Marketing: 3 Pinterest Tips via @kimandphilstone [+ Pinterest vs. Twitter] | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Phil Stone Knows Pinterest
Phil has almost 18,000 followers on Pinterest. This post shares three great and easy to use Pinterest marketing tips:

* Repin.

* Make Comments.

* Follow Others.

Those are great tips for any social net including Twitter and G+. Phil's post shares how to develop community with Pinterest. BTW, recently I had a "horse race" to 4K followers between Twitter and Pinterest.

Both Twitter and Pinterest were approach 4,000 followers. Here is where we are today for ScentTrail:

@Scenttrail 3,973
Scenttrail on Pinterest 4,082

so Pinterest grew Scenttrail's community 3% faster adding 109 more followers and I spend MUCH less time curating and creating on Pinterest than Twitter. This is NOT to say Twitter should or can be eliminated from your social media marketing.

Everything works together tapestry style, but Pinterest builds community faster and with less effort than Twitter based on my numbers.

Pinterest Just Got More Addicting, Will It Be The First Million Dollar Social Tool? | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
It's not a dramatic new look, but if you spend some time with Pinterest's latest overhaul, you'll see it's easy to find more content you'll enjoy, quickly. And as a result, you'll probably spend more time on the social network.

Via Kelly Lieberman
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

The First Million Dollar Social Tool?
Agree the new look is subtle but significant. The "random" feel is maintained but there is new cairity in the interface. Add the new look together with Pinterest's new analytics and before you know it this tool is going to be ready for prime time and its ability to make money is hardly in question.

I still want a "store within" Pinterest option since half the visiting traffic is lost with each click, but the new look and feel + Pinterest analytics means someone is going to make a million bucks on this tool here very soon.

Sure Facebook, Twitter et al. are WORTH millions, but how WE make money has always been the rub. Pinterest felt like a cool store the first time I went in and only more so now.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest – 2012′s Most Amazing Social Media Statistics [INFOGRAPHIC]

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

FIPT or Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter have put up some amazing numbers this last year proving SMM is here to stay and here for real. Debate the ROI at your company's marketing peril.

Time to get into the social media deep in is upon Internet marketers. As I stated in Social Media Marketing The Most Important ROI, the key isn't what SMM does to the bottom line thought as this infographic proves those kinds of returns are coming.

Social media marketing's most powerful return is how it changes US as the wall between US and THEM slips silently into the past.
