Rocking Google Analytics Remarketing Because It Works

Rocking Google Analytics Remarketing Because It Works | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Learn about remarketing and how you can use Google Analytics Remarketing feature to increase conversions.

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

If you are not remarketing you should be because it works. Ever notice after you visit a website you start seeing it everywhere? That is remarketing.

Remarketing plants a cookie and then presents your banner ad on websites within the remarketing network. This kind of relevant repetition is powerful for B2C and B2B marketing.

This post explains how to use analytics to support your remarketing efforts.

Oracle Inspired Social Media Infographic
Oracle is the first major vendor who seems to really understand social media marketing. You need to read several of their social media marketing white papers.

Thankfully Oracle still only has half the story, but if they've gotten to the 50 yard-line how long until they have it all (social + community. Answer: not long.

So time to get on board the social media bus was yesterday. The time to get on the social + community bus in now. Don't wait for Oracle's paper since we and those who matter you compete with will have moved on by then.

5 Ways To Design A Social Website For E-commerce Stories5 Ways To Design A Social Website For E-commerce Stories  | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

5 Storytelling Web Design Tips
Earlier today we shared a Scoop and Curagmai post about how to tell simple e-commerce stories (http://www.curagami.com/simple-ecommerce-stories-how-to/ ). The about page is the easiest and most expected place to tell an important e-com story, but here are 5 tips to design your website for stories:

* Comments - Ask for and use COMMENTS

* Conversations - Turn COMMENTS into conversations by writing blog posts about them, sharing your collaboration on social nets and throughout your marketing

* Gamify - Design for gamification (badges, user profiles, Wikis and Q&A knowledge base)

* ASK - Create an ASK where you ask visitors to join your movement with an Ambassador page (explaining how to join and what is in it for your visitors to join)

* THEM Not YOU - Make sure your web design has AT LEAST as much about THEM (your customers) as you.

Follow those 5 simple web design steps to create community.

Social Counter Impact Counter Testers Needed via @Curagami | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Social Impact Counter
Frustrated with not being able to see social following, impact or value over time or across networks we are creating a cool new tool - the Curagmai Social Impact Couinter.

http://www.curagami.com/wonderful-life-social-counter/

That link will explain why we created what may be the first such counter. Soon we will have a quant help us create better math and hope to widgetize  the counter to auto-scrape the only universal social network number - Following.

We think knowing your "impact" scores will add new dimensions to personal branding. Hey you work your butt off developing your personal brand wouldn't be cool, helpful and profitable to have a summary of your impact? All things being equal bet hiring managers start looking at social impact HARD before hiring anyone.

If you would like a Social Impact Counter, bet willing to give feeedback and share how you use your counter we want you (lol). We may never charge for the Curagami Social Impact Counter, but the first 100 "testers" will get theirs for free for sure.

email martin(at)Curagami.com or use the form on the post and we will send you a free Social Impact Counter once pepople smarter than us get done with it. Thanks, Marty

How Snapchat Is Changing Social Media Marketing

How Snapchat Is Changing Social Media Marketing | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
Snapchat and Wickr are tearing up the social marketing playbook.

While it's no news that social media use has become fractured, a new Pew Research Center report shows just how increasingly complex it's become.

About 36 percent of U.S. smart phone owners are using messaging apps like Kik and iMessage, according to Pew. Apps like Snapchat and Wickr, which automatically delete sent messages, claim 17 percent of smartphone owners as users.

"Users now have dozens of options to communicate with others as broadly or narrowly as they like," says Maeve Duggan, lead author of the report, which was based on phone interviews with nearly 2,000 U.S. adults, most of them Internet users.

Top 5 Most Read Posts 2016 via @Curagami

Top 5 Most Read Posts 2016 via @Curagami | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Most Read As Sign of the Times

Funny how what your readers read teaches two things. First your "most read" or viewed posts share what is happening in the world. Curagami's Top 5 Most Read posts in 2016 are about SEO, marketing, hacking and branding.

While the mix of subjects isn't a surprised, Curagami is a digital marketing company, the 80:20 Rule is. Scoop.it remains 2x as important in pure views as our blog. While that fact may distress some it pleases us.

Curation is what is next in content marketing. Soon no one will be able to afford to blog about untested or unknown result subjects. Risks of damage to existing benchmarks is simply too great to blog "at will" anymore.

We've seen predictions in Barabasi's book Linked: How Everything Is Connected To Everything Else come true. Linked is proving correct probably because Barabasi's predictions are based on his observations about how networks form and evolve.

The "Rich Get Richer" concept isn't new. Big brands have been exploiting "rich get richer" for decades. Walmart is built on the idea of a tiny advantage from massive scale is a big advantage and lots of money with Amazon their digital counterpart.

That Scoop.it creates greater reach than our blog is a truth many marketers will need to understand and adjust to. Scoop.it's power speaks to content curation's greater reach, efficiency, and lower costs. It is easier to create community when you listen and content curation is a form of "digital listening".

The rich getting richer is the mathematical destiny of networks. Our jobs, as digital marketers, is not to figure out how to be loved by more customers than Coca Cola but find ways to incorporate our customers better, learn faster, and do what is right, true, and honest for our brands.

Enlist 5 customers today in your movement and ask them to help. When they enlist 5 friends as them to help too and before you know it you aren't the only one reading a post, sharing a Scoop or reading a book. We are smarter together than alone...always.

Layered storytelling – the art of the future

Layered storytelling – the art of the future | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it
I think we can all agree that the world is a pretty complex place. It would be easier for most of us if it was simply cleary black and white, right and wrong, for and against, like a LOTR movie with all nuances wiped away. That is, however, never the case. Whatever stories we want…
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Marty Note - Layered Storytelling
I don't understand "layered storytelling" as much as I would like to yet, but boy I know it is going to be huge. The idea is not complicated - we need to tell stories over time and content types. The execution is what is hard and complicated enough so I'm going to read this post several times before weighing in further.

Does Blogging Matter to Social Media

Does Blogging Matter to Social Media | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Blogging and Social Media
Asking if blogging matters to social media is to ask the wrong question in the wrong way. Social media, like blogging, is a marketing tactic. Like all marketing tactics blogging and social media should come wrapped in a blanket of strategy.

Like all marketing strategy the tactical and strategic blanket that wraps blogging and social media should start with a brand's why - the raison d'être for a product, company, brand or service to exist.

Every communication should flow from the spring of what Simon Sinek so well defined in his must read book Start With Why (use that link to buy the book on Amazon to make a small donation to cure cancer).  Sharing is what is happening.

The "sharing economy" may be part hyperbole, but sharing is a form of communication and a tactic and a strategy few can afford to not embrace. Our Curagami post notes the importance of content curation in support of blogging.

We mention @Scoop.it as the best content curation tool we know and use. Curation is important to form community and so your voice doesn't begin to sound shrill and demanding. Better to curate the relevant (to your branding) communication of others than attempting to create (write or blog) you way to submission these days.

Blogging, done right, is a conversation between a company, brand or product's WHY and customer reactions, ideas and desire to join the movement. Movements are bigger ideas than brands, but smart brands have harnessed the power of bigger ideas.

Nike's Just Do It, North Face's "Never Stop Exploring" and Apple's Think Different are all brilliant examples of connecting brands to bigger ideas (read Jim Stengel's excellent Grow for more on Brand Ideals). Blogging is a share and so a natural extension of harnessing brands to movements and bigger ideas.

Goes blogging matter? Yes and in more ways than we know or fully appreciate. Is blogging critical to social media? Yes since blogging confirms a company, brand or products digital listening skills while reaffirming the brand, company or website's presence in the game / conversation.

Ello Goes Mobile & Worries About Becoming Walmart of Social

Ello Goes Mobile & Worries About Becoming Walmart of Social | Social Marketing Revolution | Scoop.it

Ello No Worries
Here is what I just posted on GPlus about Ello worrying about becoming the Walmart of social if they allow selling:

1. Setting up authorize.net gateways isn't easy.
2. Getting PCI compliance from banks and credit cards isn't easy.
3. NO ONE has shown how a social feed can be successfully monetized.

So to the team at Ello I would say imagine you are about to take a trip around the world. You are at the foot of your driveway and "becoming the Walmart of social" is a world away :). M

PS. If Ello allows selling what does that do to their "no ads" positioning?

Maybe the first thing to worry about is scaling their social network to a point where it is beloved and used by us INSTEAD of Facebook or Twitter then worrying about becoming the Walmart of social may make some sense.

In my mind this is another social net whose invitation only beta has all but killed it.  So worry less, do more is my advice.
