100 Amazing Social Media Statistics, Facts And Figures [INFOGRAPHIC]
Ana Quillinan's insight:

When you look at them comparatively, real information starts to pour out....for eg., the 25 million daily active users of LinkedIn pales in comparison to Facebook's 500 million+. But as a business, you must consider always what information is appropriate to serve them and whether they even care to listen depending on why they're there in the first place.

Homepage Elements Every Business Website Should Have [Infographic]

Homepage Elements Every Business Website Should Have [Infographic] | Social Media Marketing for Real | Scoop.it

Almost everyone’s got a website these days, and one of the most important parts of yours is the homepage – It serves as the virtual front door to your business and gets the lion’s share of your visitors.

To help roll out the welcome mat, here’s an infographic breakdown of the elements every successful business homepage should include.

Ana Quillinan's insight:

Always look at the feasibility for visitors to get to a next step with you. If the sign-up, free trial, get help buttons are not in optimal viewing range, your conversion rate will be abysmal. No visitor expects to make a deal right away unless you're an ecommerce site - woo them and be friendly. Think of a shop window if you had a brick and mortar business. That's your website's homepage canvas.....

Fake Twitter followers: A Dirty Marketing Secret

Fake Twitter followers: A Dirty Marketing Secret | Social Media Marketing for Real | Scoop.it
A few weeks ago, I alerted readers to the growing problem of Twitter spam and now news comes that this is not the domain of underground players but one where large brands and stars may also be playing, purchasing fake followers to puff up their...

Ana Quillinan's insight:

This is the epitome in lacking integrity -- growing your followers naturally (organically as the gurus say it) is all about being their go-to resource -  no doubt about it. And, nope, I'm hearing more and more how many people know those followers are fake -- just click on their follower list and see how many 'eggs' and names with no profile descriptions exist....

Sad to see brands care more about their numbers than their substance...

Twitter spam accounts have been an issue for years. The fact that brands, especially big ones, buy followers is proof that they still don't understand how to leverage social media properly.

Grow your followership naturally by being their go-to resource.

Ways Social Media Content Can Resolve Small Business Problems | Business 2 Community

Ways Social Media Content Can Resolve Small Business Problems | Business 2 Community | Social Media Marketing for Real | Scoop.it
As organizations of all sizes begin to realize the power of social media and content marketing, there’s a need for these tools to be translated for (Time? Resources? Ideas?
Ana Quillinan's insight:

The challenges are many, but some of the key ways to improve upon these is to treat social media like both a real-time fountain of information at your finger tips (search, listen, consume) and a method of connecting with the audience that loves you. It takes time to start it up, but content is everywhere - you say it all day in your daily interactions, so think of a 120 character headline for every great insight you share internally to turn it into a series of tweets you could amass in the way of 'evergreen' content. Also, allow your employees - ALL of them - to contribute. They can and should with the right guidance. Make LinkedIn your source for all contact relationships - and be visible to them often. Stay in touch, relate and be yourself.

[Infographic] Facebook Ad Performance by Industry

[Infographic] Facebook Ad Performance by Industry | Social Media Marketing for Real | Scoop.it

Ever wonder if your Facebook ads are performing better or worse than the industry standard for ROI – searching for some Facebook benchmarking data? What is the average CPM, CTR, CPC, the average cost per like, or average page like rate for your industry or business?

This graphic is based on data from Social.com’s study of 1 million ad units and over 114 billion impressions from January 1st to March 31st, 2013. The report analyzed the top 25 countries globally and top five countries per region based on impressions. All rates were converted to U.S. dollars using the average daily conversion rates during the reporting period.

You can use this data in many different ways – one of which is determining ROI of your Facebook Campaign to determine if social media is worth the ROI for your business.

Ana Quillinan's insight:

How your ads rank on Facebook could have countless other reasons why it performs better or worse, ie - timing, image quality, messaging, target market, etc. Test on a relative basis with multiple ads.

Ana Quillinan's insight:

I remember the first time I saw the power of live streaming on Twitter an event I was attending, it was 4 years ago and I loved the insight it gave me. It's incredible how it helps the event producers learn if their event is being well-received or not. If there's a speaker, even more so! Businesses hosting the parties can revel in the social glow that transpires from facebook posts, check-ins, tweets, instagramed photos and more. Be thoughtful about yours guests' immediate ability to record their event participation - set a hashtag, share your social names and run with it!

To Be Authentic, Look Beyond Yourself

To Be Authentic, Look Beyond Yourself | Social Media Marketing for Real | Scoop.it
Authenticity requires comfortably connecting with others.
Ana Quillinan's insight:

Loved this in the Harvard Business Review - it's not easy being authentic and being open and willing to engage is so incredibly tied to whether you are honestly saying your point of view, not just what you think the other person wants to hear.
