SEO Help: 3 Ways to Perform SEO on a Shoestring Budget

SEO Help: 3 Ways to Perform SEO on a Shoestring Budget | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

SEO help and tips for a small business that's on a budget, to improve your search rankings without exposing yourself to a high level of short term risk.... As the SEO landscape continues to change in 2013, many tactics that had previously been low cost, easy to implement and effective are becoming less and less effective. For this reason, a lot of small businesses are struggling to choose the right areas of focus to get quality results from SEO on a limited budget. The truth is that things like comprehensive content marketing plans can be very expensive to execute, and for many small businesses a hefty monthly retainer to “do SEO right” might not be a legitimate possibility. So what can a small business that’s on a budget do to improve their search rankings without exposing themselves to a high level of short term risk?...

Three Examples of the Importance of Flexibility in Social Media Marketing | Business 2 Community

Three Examples of the Importance of Flexibility in Social Media Marketing | Business 2 Community | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Traditional or “outbound” advertising is all about framing a message, which is packaged and sent to a wide audience, hoping to capture the attention of the smaller audience being targeted.

The nuances of how a campaign is run on social media are far different from traditional marketing.  The focus and goal of various businesses is also unique – companies may want to sell their products, get referrals, gain exposure, service customers, and become the industry “expert,” and so on.  However, no matter what the original goal, ultimately, the Page will take on a life of its own, as user’s define how they wish to interact with the page and, ultimately, with the company.

So while it is important to define a strategy prior to beginning any marketing campaign, the Page’s administrator must be flexible enough to tailor the content to the audience. This is the only way that Social Media Marketing will truly work as it should.  Following are some examples to illustrate how Pages are being used...

Your brain often works on autopilot when it comes to grammar. That theory has been around for years, but neuroscientists have now captured elusive hard evidence that people indeed detect and process grammatical errors with no awareness of doing so.

The End of Traditional Ad Agencies | Harvard Business Review

The End of Traditional Ad Agencies | Harvard Business Review | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Open innovation is changing the economics of advertising.... ... while open innovation platforms in advertising lend themselves to creative work, they're also being tapped in the production phase of the business. MoFilm, Poptent, and Tongal, for example, focus on video production for television and web films. In every part of the industry, the open innovation model is changing the economics of advertising by switching significant fixed costs to variable costs and sourcing creative from more relevant and, many times, lower cost sources. Each open innovation agency (and there are many) has its own revenue model, but common to all of them is the basic proposition of expanding the agency's capabilities by tapping the wisdom of a global self-selected crowd of creatives, strategists, and fans. In his research on InnoCentive, the first global Internet-based platform designed to match problems with creative problem-solvers, Harvard Business School professor Karim Lakhani observed that the further a problem was from the solvers' field of expertise, the more likely they were to solve it. Since few companies have the resources to hire the diverse disciplinary expertise found in open innovation networks, agencies will have to tap these networks if they hope to compete on creative output....

Advertising is suffering from the same impact of social media as PR and marketing. In many respects the impact is biggest on the traditional advertising model and this post offers an interesting look at how some agencies are responding. One thing's for certain. There is no going back.

Social Media Marketing and its Current Importance

Social Media Marketing and its Current Importance | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

When people follow your business pages in Facebook or your account in Twitter, they are also likely to get to visit your company website, and even encourage their friends to visit. That makes social media marketing a very important tool for lead generation. In addition, search engines now give more ranking points to websites that have an upright presence in social media. This is good because most of the traffic that you will get in your website will come from people starting off with search engine queries....

Jay Z one of the best rappers alive is changing the game of hip hop totally. The days of just revealing your track list online for your new album are done. Jay Z decided to send, hand selected fans on a scavenger hunt around Brooklyn. While on the scavenger hunt, fans found black books which had the name of one of the songs, off of Jay Z upcoming album "Magna Carta Holy Grail." The fans were encouraged to share their finding via social media.

Using social media for PR/Marketing is always a great idea! Jay Z took the power of social media and used it for his benefits. I could remember being on Twitter and my timeline was filled with information about this album. Overall all artists should get in to PR/Marketing such as this one. Getting your fans actively involved, in my eyes is always going to be a great idea .

The Secret Recipe for Viral Content Marketing Success

The Secret Recipe for Viral Content Marketing Success | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Let's assume you know the basics: content marketing is one of the best ways to engage with audiences and potential customers online. It is useful for improving search rankings, increasing brand engagement and loyalty, increasing brand visibility, and encouraging social sharing and interaction. If you are a consumer-facing company in this day and age, you simply cannot keep up with the competition if you are not actively building your content marketing skill set.

Easier said than done though, right? You’ve probably dabbled in content marketing before, or maybe even hired a “top agency.” Maybe you have even seen some results; a few links here, a few hundred shares there, but then what? Certainly no fireworks, no massive ranking improvements, and no lead or sale increases. Maybe it wasn’t the panacea you’d hoped it might be. Short on time and money, you probably gave up and reinvested your money into tried and true marketing practices that could at least drive a few conversions. You chalked content marketing up to something too expensive or too difficult to find any real success with.

If any of this resonates with you, you are most definitely not alone. Doing content marketing properly is no easy task, and to beginners it can seem to be next to impossible to create anything that will stand out and get noticed. Add to that the explosion of agencies who claim to be gurus and deliver tragically poor results, and the whole “content marketing” arena can start to feel like a convoluted mess that can’t deliver on its promises.

So, what do you do? Other tactics are losing efficacy, your site is losing rankings, you can’t get social engagement for the life of you, and your frustration level is at an all-time high
