Millennials Are Not Impressed With Your Content Marketing

Millennials Are Not Impressed With Your Content Marketing | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Millennials - also referred to as digital natives or Gen Y - created the art of consuming copious amounts of content across multiple devices at all times. While the oft-ridiculed generation may seem easy to dismiss, millennials have a lot of purchasing power and are expected to shell out $1.4 trillion by 2020. It would behoove marketers to win them over, hence the issue in this study. The good news is Gen Y is very open minded when it comes to native content, and will gladly share it with their social networks, as long as you don’t try to slip in a hard sell. The study, which surveyed 15,000 adults ages 18-34, found that this generation is very put off when they feel deceived by advertisers. So what does this all mean for you, as a marketer? For starters, you’ll need to bring your A-game because millennials expect you to understand their needs, their preferences, and their passions. It’s all about them – they are a generation of selfie-takers, after all. Take a look at some best practices for winning over Gen Y according to the study, as well as some other content marketing thought leaders....

Don't assume you know your audience's interests, passions, values and beliefs. Do your homework. We are all busy managing the streams of information coming at us. Some are more savvy than others and Gen Y is much more.

Millenials are not impressed, because they want transparency. A lot of content marketing is salesmen dressed up like clowns, hoping to attract someone rich, to make one sale and boom. Instant clown fame.

How to Spy on Your Competition

How to Spy on Your Competition | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Marketers want to know what their competition is up to. Setting up Google Alerts and following your competitor's Twitter feed can get you only so far, and the old "hide your badge trick" at tradeshows is just annoying. Does it ever work... or does it just arouse suspicion? So what's the best way to gather competitive intelligence? Some of the information you want is not public. Other information is just hard to find and takes some work. Luckily, with the troves of information now online, plus some new tools, it's never been easier.

Nothing is private anymore. It's time all of us, individually and group-wise, took security seriously. In this new digital universe, there are few rules to reign in those who pursue power and dominance. Don't be a victim. This seems to be the inverse of the golden rule--"Do onto others, but do it first." A sad commentary on the state of our world. Aloha, Russ.

LinkedIn is the Social Seller's favorite tool. These are good pieces of advice.

Always be connecting, always be closing! Connect with your leads, learn something about their background and interests. Not only will it save you time on Sales calls, but it will give you an ice breaker before diving into a dry phone call.

Maintaining your own profile is also essential. Ensure your headline is accurate and interesting, your photo is up-to-date and professional, and encourage your connections to endorse and recommend you!

Join groups to find people with similar interests. You never know what this network could help create; a job opportunity, a new deal, a chance for career advancement, or just build connections!

Complete Guide to #SocialMedia Image Sizes 2015 | Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

There’s no question of a doubt that social media has become more visual over the past few years with over 63 percent of social media updates now incorporating images. Wouldn’t it be useful if all this information was in one place? Thankfully the team at Setupablogtoday have done that in this easy to follow cheat sheet.

9. Fornire al lettore una chiara “call to action”.

10. Utilizzare come lead dell’articolo nei social un fatto o una citazione interessanti, per stimolare la curiosità (senza però anticipare nulla di essenziale, altrimenti c’è il rischio che il lettore si senta appagato dal lead e non legga l’articolo).
