Facebook Leads Way In In-store Sales for SMBs [Study]

Facebook Leads Way In In-store Sales for SMBs [Study] | Social Media Management | Scoop.it
A new study from digital marketing company G/O Digital shows that compared to Twitter and Pinterest, Facebook is better at driving offline sales for small businesses, with 84 percent of respondents saying that local deals or offers on Facebook heavily influence their decision to make in-store purchases.

Quote "A deeper look at different marketing tactics reveals that 40 percent of respondents say Facebook offers that can be redeemed at a local store are most likely to persuade them to make in-store purchases, followed by Promoted Posts (12 percent) and photos/videos (11 percent) seen on the platform.."

Lindsay Eikenberg's curator insight, September 28, 2014 5:53 PM

The article summarizes a study completed by a digital marketing company which concluded that Facebook is the best social media platform to increase in-store sales in small businesses by advertising special offers and deals. Furthermore, most respondents stated that Facebook is the platform that they use when researching a product or a service before buying in store. What I found most interesting is that many stated that as long as the ads are tailored to their interests and personal tastes, they don’t mind the lack of privacy when ads appear on their personal profiles.

The results of this study were not surprising, as I feel that Facebook is most widely used by consumers and businesses over the other social media platforms. In today’s world, a small business has to promote itself the best it can and Facebook advertising is a great way to do it. Adding special deals and coupons to its social media advertisements, as well as having a Facebook business profile page, is a great way for a business to garner new customers. The fact that these ads are driving consumers into the physical store is beneficial because it allows the business to cross-sell and wow the customer in person, in hopes of turning them into a repeat customer.  As a consumer, I would gladly welcome a deal or coupon on my page if it was for a product that I was interested in purchasing, or fits my personality. Who wouldn’t want to try out a new product they were curious about at a cheaper price?

4 Areas That Influence Brand Reputation

4 Areas That Influence Brand Reputation | Social Media Management | Scoop.it

When we think about branding our first thoughts often centre around our name, logo, colors and maybe a tagline. But branding is so much more!

Branding isn’t the same as marketing, although it is a piece of the marketing equation.

Marketing is what we do to promote our business, whereas branding is more about who we are, and capturing and showcasing who we are through our branding.

Visual Content Is Shaping the Future of Social Media [Infographic]

Visual Content Is Shaping the Future of Social Media [Infographic] | Social Media Management | Scoop.it
Visual content is exploding on social media, with sites like Pinterest and Vine leading the charge.

Even Twitter, which started as a place to post short and simple messages, now has images for a more visual experience. Indeed, the future of digital media is upon us — and it’s rich with visual content.

According to an infographic from Oracle, there are five tweets per second that include a Vine link. The acquisitions of Tumblr and Vizify point to an increased interest in interactive media and infographics, with Yahoo investing in visual media.

Twitter Overhauls Profiles on iOS in the 'Biggest Update to Date'

Twitter Overhauls Profiles on iOS in the 'Biggest Update to Date' | Social Media Management | Scoop.it
This is our biggest update to profiles to date," the company wrote in a blog post. "Featuring a fresh design, the updated profiles focus on your bio, Tweets and photos, making it easy for you to get a glimpse into the people you care about on Twitter."

The redesigned profiles include three tabs: tweets, photos and favorites. The photos tab displays images you have tweeted, while favorites surfaces tweets you have favorited. User bios are also immediately surfaced in the profile view; previously, you had to swipe across the top of a person's header image to view his or her bio.
