Jux - blogging from iPad &computer

Jux - blogging from iPad &computer | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it

I have just signed up and put up a test post from my iPad and I was impressed. It's fairly intuitive and fast. I needed to log on from my computer to do some fine edits to the site's look and feel, and I have still not figured everything out, but my first impressions are good.

Not sure how and why I would use it, but I will keep testing it. It links to social networks as expected.

From the site: "Jux is the ultimate place to share your photos, videos, words and more. It's like the IMAX of blogs. 100% immersive content."

Hyperlocal News | drupal.org

Hyperlocal News | drupal.org | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
A Drupal extension. From the site: "This is a news distribution aimed at "hyper-local news" though it works well for nearly any news where location is important. The profile creates new content types, vocabularies (taxonomy), and configures many common modules for you. It also creates an unpublished page as the first piece of content that walks you through the process of how to setup your site and lets you configure things as you see fit."

Thank you Dave for this precious intro.<br/>NewsCurve already works on several big portals. My friend Daniel Bukumirovic and Editor in Chief of Mondo.rs is astonished by the value of this tool for their newsroom which is one of the best in Serbia. <br/>It is also presented in Ringier Serbia and they will use it for Blic.rs which is the most popular news portal in Serbian language. <br/>It's really amazing tool to follow the impact of your content on social networks and take that valuable feedback instantly in your newsroom. <br/>Wouldn't it be nice to know which stories from your front page really make some viral effect and which of them don't deserve that precious place? <br/>It's not enough just to use tools like Google Analytics anymore and watch for pageviews. Today more than anything we want our content to be shared not just viewed. We want to measure it and NewsCurve is created to serve that purpose.<br/>Dejan Restak <br/>NewsCurve Adviser<br/>@soundsponge on Twitter <br/><br/>

Storyful

Storyful | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
Similar to Storify in that it is an online content management system that enables you to include assets in your story from Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Google search and RSS feeds.

However, Storyful then presents your contribution alongside others in a portal of contributions where all can comment and share. I have signed up, and it looks great, but I still need to test it.

Posterous

Posterous | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
My current favourite micro-blogging tool that enables you to update the site via email and upload text, images and video from your smartphone or computer.

I use this a lot in training because it enables great collaboration and teams can create sites in half a day.

Some nice themes, too, which you can customise. My Posterous is at http://mediahelpingmedia.posterous.com/

podcastomatic.com

podcastomatic.com | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
helpingmedia's insight:

Podcastomatic works well. Simply add the URL of your blog and it will turn it into a podcast read by a robot. One or two issues which I will mail them about. If your blog has a 'read more' function as in WordPress or Joomla the robot stops reading at that point. The robot also reads information at the bottom of the post such as the permalink and invitation to add comments. But it's a good start.

n0tice - community noticeboard for sharing news

n0tice - community noticeboard for sharing news | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it

I have just signed up for the Guardian's n0tice (the 0 is a zero) - it's free. It's a community noticeboard for news and events and I saw it demonstrated by the Guardian's Sarah Hartley @foodiesarah at the MediaFabric event in Prague last week.

First impressions are that it could be useful. It allows readers to rate articles and say whether they are important or trivial etc.  My first post was extremely trivial. I've added a few events, too.

At I write (27 Oct 2011) it's beta invite only - but mine arrived really fast.  Give it a try.

Scribd

Scribd | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
From the site's blurb: "Scribd is a social publishing site, where tens of millions of people share original writings and documents. Scribd's vision is to liberate the written word."

Recommended by @JohnEi of BetaTales: "Journalists often need to quote reports and documents in their stories. Sometimes the whole article can be about the content of a specific document. Many journalists then choose to include a link to the document. But wouldn’t it be even better if you could include the document in your own article?"

Storify

Storify | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
Great curation and news production tool enabling journalists to gather assets from Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, the web, RSS, blogs and Storify itself and then to create asset-rich stories which, when published, are virally disseminated.

I am using this a lot in training courses with great results. What's also useful is that you can embed the stories you create in most blogs by just copy and pasting the script across.

Here is my Storify http://storify.com/helpingmedia and here is how one story, created with Storify, has been imported into my Joomla site http://bit.ly/eQr9X3.
