Tweepi Twitter Follow Management Utility is a set of Twitter tools to add, follow and unfollow tweeps in bulk.
Suggested by @MikeVazMV. Thanks Mike.
Perhaps this could be of use to decide who to follow and who to ditch.
I really like this tool. It's simple, no need to sign up, and it's great for checking up on key words and phrases. Looks like Google. Just type the details in the search box and it runs a real-time search across Twitter and Facebook. Handy for journalists wanting a simple quick search of social media conversations.
More than a bit of fun, this nifty tool 'herds' your followers, checks out what they tweet about and then creates a word cloud of the key words.
Click on a word and then click on 'see your flock' to get to know more about your Twitter network. Great potential for contacts building and news gathering.
Grab any tweet by clicking on the date/time and copying the URL. Then stick that URL in Blackbird Pie and click 'bake it' (yes, I know). Then grabe the code and embed the Tweet in your blog story. Neat.

Just experimenting with this. http://www.twylah.com/helpingmedia From the site: "Twitter marketing and Twitter brand pages for companies, small businesses, nonprofits, and celebrities. Get more followers, engagement, results, and action metrics. Showcase your brand's trending topics and tweets."
From the site: "examples of journalists using Twitter to improve the way they connect with audiences, share news and, through it all, build deeper and broader communities. These folks have proven that the core values of journalism are just as important and effective on Twitter as in the newsroom:"
Create a news item from tweets and other assets, publish and embed. Another neat tool - along the lines of Storify.
I have used this to search for contacts and current topics in the countries I am travelling to.
From the site's blurb: "Twellow.com has been designed from the ground up to help you "cut through the clutter". From our home at Twellow headquarters, we're actively searching and categorizing millions of inter-personal exchanges available on the internet every day. Twellow.com is thereby able to assist you in finding real people who really matter. We're doing the hard work of sifting out people who can help bring your vision to reality, whatever that vision might be."
Imagine getting an email when there is a development in a story/issue you are following. Just type in the key words and Tweet Alarm will email you when tweets are sent mentioning that word.
Another way for journalists to generate word clouds based on what they have said (your Twitter user name) or on topics. Then click on the resulting words to display a list of relevant tweets.
Of course you can then click on the name and try to connect with any interesting contacts or just join the conversations as part of the news gathering and news dissemination process.
