Can't you do the same thing with Google Docs?
helpingmedia's comment, April 17, 2011 3:11 PM
Hi Pablo, probably. I like the way you can collaborate over an issue - as I did today testing this with a colleague in SE Asia - and create an html doc with embedded elements that you can then save or upload.
Could be good for working on a project/article together. This site is not about either or, it's about listing all the tools that can benefit journalists. David
Pablo Oliva's comment, April 17, 2011 3:14 PM
Understood. I mentioned Google Docs since it already appears to be a popular solution and wanted to point that out for people who were interested in this functionality ;-)

Wordle - Beautiful Word Clouds

Wordle - Beautiful Word Clouds | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
Recommended by @JohnEi of BetaTales:

"Say you have to write about the speech of your prime minister. Or you cover a new government report. And then you run into the typical challenge: How to illustrate the article in a good way?

"Have you considered using a word cloud? Wordle.net is a fascinating service that lets you take any word input, for instance the entire speech of the prime minister, and make a colorful word cloud. In this cloud words that are most frequently used will be bigger than others."

Duolingo

Duolingo | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it
I like the idea of this new tool and have just signed up for a pre-release registration. Quote taken from Techcrunch article, "how can you get 100 million people on the web translating everything into different languages for free?" http://techcrunch.com/2011/04/12/duolingo/

Could this be useful for newsgathering? From the site's blurb: "With Duolingo you learn a language and simultaneously translate the Web.

"Language differences remain a barrier for the global sharing of knowledge, and computers cannot process human language accurately. The more you learn at Duolingo, the more knowledge you make accessible to the world. Since you create shared value when you learn, you don’t have to pay for using Duolingo. We believe language education should be 100% free."

Very clever. Dabbleboard free online whiteboard

Very clever. Dabbleboard free online whiteboard | Social media kitbag | Scoop.it

I've been playing with this tool but yet to publish anything with it. I like the way it imports documents and images on to the whiteboard and then you can draw and write around the assets, publish, share and embed. Will test in a blog when I get time.

Wondering if the company is still operating, though. Last tweet was the middle of last month and last forum discussion was some time ago. Also, the how-to video isn't working. The product looks good.

From the site:  "Online whiteboard that's free, powerful and easy-to-use. Draw with flexible tools. Collaborate in real-time."
