Dotty Scott's insight:

I think there is way more value in a Google+ account than mentioned here.  I have seen some VERY POOR websites rank well with the help of a Google+ account.

Vinod Poyilath's curator insight, March 29, 2013 10:44 AM

Interesting stats there... Google+ being more popular in the BRIC countries.. means HUGE potential, and obviously for Indian entrepreneurs, another great tool to leverage. Interestingly, I don't see that being done enough!!

And looking at where it is going, the first page results are increasingly getting hijacked by Google local listings, which is both good and bad; good that your results for local searches come with maps and all contact info in one glance, and you can rank on front page with literally no SEO; bad that it becomes hard for a site with no brick and mortar office to rank for such local search terms.

Why Should Free Marketing Be Allowed On Social Media

I don't think privatizing social media outlets would be attractive to the public. The free speech and freedom to share, has made social media a forum of global access.

If you follow this Scoop.it board you've seen these instructions before - but check out the question I left in the comments and Rich's answer:

Hey Rich! Nice video. I've been using these annotation for a few weeks now. I get a lot of traffic from YouTube already but I haven't figured out a way to determine the clicks that are coming from the annotation vs. clicks coming from the links I add to the video descriptions. If you have any tips on that let me know. I can't say that I'm getting more traffic so far but placement of the links is also a big factor. If you put the link too soon in the video that might work against your channel rankings on YouTube. I'm not taking any chances so I tend to add the website links towards the end.

Response from Rich:

Why, Ileane, I DO have an answer for you. :)

Check out Google's URL builder and put in "YouTube" for the source, "annotation" for the medium, and an appropriate name (such as the name of the video) for the campaign name.

Here's a blog post I wrote about it: http://www.themarketingagents.com/url-builder

Dotty Scott's insight:

Having a strategy is very important.  Pinning from your site is important as well.  I do not agree with the idea that pinning from your site is boring.  Unless you site is boring - and that in another whole issue.  If you have a blog you should be using the photos there first then pinning from the post.
