Ideas include behind the scenes videos to show people what happens in the office. Or live sessions of questions and answer. Perhaps a live most common FAQs during the first week of the semester?

Here’s Why You and Everyone You Know Should Be on Periscope

Here's Why You And Everyone You Know Should Be On Periscope - The Coffeelicious - Medium

Periscope is a platform that allows content creators to gain instant feedback from their audience. You won’t get that on YouTube, Vimeo, or Facebook. You are able to interact with your audience and answer their questions during the broadcast. As you begin to gain a following you’ll start seeing familiar faces and they kind of become like friends.

I am a big fan of this new app and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for Periscope. Will it change the journalism industry? Who knows. What I do know is that every content creator, salesman, inventor, techie, artist, musician, and business person should be on this app....

Periscope lets you use video to share what's going on right now via video. Perhaps useful for behind the scenes or events?

Are you on Periscope yet?  According to this article - you should be!

(From the article): Periscope is a very new app and definitely has bugs and kinks to work out, but we can already see the potential for this new platform. Live streaming takes engagement to a whole new level for marketing. People want to follow people, now they can.

Jessica Hagman's insight:

Primary take away: students watch the videos when they believe they will be useful. I liked that they created a supplemental video based on the "muddiest" point from the lecture. This seems like it would well for after a library session to follow up.

Exciting changes to the YouTube interface should mean more view and exposure for our videos.

My favorite tips here is that they are tagging their videos with their channel name.

Perhaps I will start tagging my videos with Ileane Smith and see what happens. This might get more of my videos to show up with Google Authorship in search!

Wanda Rawlins's comment, December 14, 2012 12:15 PM

YouTube Changes Algorithm to Rank Videos | HigherVisibility

YouTube Changes Algorithm to Rank Videos | HigherVisibility | Social Media for Libraries | Scoop.it

YouTube is following in the footsteps of Google and has officially changed their algorithm when it comes time to rank videos. YouTube Algorithm Changes Explained

There was really one big difference that we saw with the update: clicks are less important. This goes for both the video as well as the ads connected to the video:

Time is more important for content. In the past YouTube focused heavily on the number of clicks a video received. The problem with this was the fact that videos with catchy headlines were getting all of the attention. Now, YouTube is focusing more on the time that someone spends watching the video.
Time is more important for ads. Not only is the time a user watches a video more important than simple clicks, but this same logic also goes for advertisements. If you want your video to rank higher, people will have to sit through those ads.
