Study: Brands Simply Aren't Replying on Twitter | Social Media | Scoop.it

If you manage a brand's Twitter account, chances are you're not interacting as much as you could be. And that's not a good thing.

Simply Measured took a look at 98 of the top global brands on Twitter and found some eye-opening information.

From Mashable:

During the final three months of 2013, 98 of Interbrand's top 100 global brands tweeted at least once and the average company tweeted 12 times per day, according to data from Simply Measured, a social media analytics provider. However, the report also found that 54% of these Interbrand companies send less than one @-reply per day....

Engineers create a temporary tattoo that tests blood sugar

Engineers create a temporary tattoo that tests blood sugar | Social Media | Scoop.it

Amay Bandodkar, a researcher at the University of California, San Diego, has created a flexible sensor that uses a mild electrical current to measure glucose levels in a person's body. Measuring blood sugar levels multiple times a day is vital for diabetes patients because it shows how well their body is managing their disease as well as the dose of insulin they require, if they need any at all. But because many people find needles unpleasant, they tend to avoid measuring their levels, which puts them at risk of developing serious medical complications.

The new device is painless — It contains electrodes printed on a thin tattoo paper that patients can even dispose after use. "Presently the tattoo sensor can easily survive for a day," Bandodkar said in a statement. "These are extremely inexpensive — a few cents — and hence can be replaced without much financial burden on the patient."

There is certainly no shortage of guru laden advice in the entrepreneurial space. Who hasn’t read about some version of the give up everything to toil 24/7 in someone’s garage while living on ramen noodles story of a startup business? Or the version that describes how business owners live with a relentless focus on the business doing whatever it takes to grow (meanwhile allowing health, relationships, and everything else to crumble)? Those stories are everywhere. The problem is if you actually want to have a life and create meaning from your precious days on the planet, there are some fatal myths out there that get tossed around as gospel. Let’s dispel them. A free marketing tool, on the other hand, generated Quick Sprout 17,747 unique visitors within 4 days, and it helped increase time spent on site to over 3 minutes. So, how did the videos perform compared to the other marketing tactics I leveraged?
