Kred is losing the firehose in November and is focussing on selling top level domains: .best, .kred and .ceo, so that will no longer be of help to anyone. As for the rest, noone's mentioning Radian 6, marketwired, or spider. Personally, I think Spider's going to make a huge splash. Lastly, Brito's totally right. Find customers (someone who has a vested interest in affirming that their purchase was a good one), but I still think they should be influencers as well. Finding that mix is so precarious. For new brands, I suggest giving influencers the opportunity to try it out themselves, and then when they love it, they need to purchase the next product/service.

Like it or not, you need to build a significant following on Twitter in order to take full advantage of the platform. These 17 tactics, including two brand-new Followerwonk features, will boost your efforts.
You might ask, why do I want more followers anyway? Twitter does little for SEO (at least not directly). Well, I don't want to get into a whole sales pitch for social media generally, but a few points stand out:
Twitter is a lightweight, frictionless, and serendipitous way to engage customers. It doesn't require an email blast or the customer actively visiting your site. Once they follow you, they'll encounter you on their timeline during the normal course of their social experience. The little pings and pops you'll have with them accrue tremendous value.Your follower count is a good measure of your influence, and other people see it as such. The more followers you have, the more you'll attract, and the more you can use your influence to drive customers, conversations, and engagement. The more you are followed, the more likely you will appear in the "Who to follow" Twitter promotion on the left hand side of Twitter.com.

Social cred or socially awkward?By calling social scores “Influence Scores,” companies like Klout (who’s tagline is “The Standard For Influence”) have set expectations in the market that influence can be measured with scoring algorithms. However, influence is much more complex.By setting the wrong expectations, social scoring companies have changed how marketing and PR professionals think about influence, and how to identify it. Instead of finding influencers from a context and audience approach, marketing and PR professionals look at metrics like follower count, unique visitors, and social scores to get a glimpse on who’s “influential,” which in most cases doesn’t work – popularity doesn’t necessarily equal influence....
Amen! Influencer Marketing just depends on so many factors: (1) Influence over the audience (2) the Influencer needs the right audience for YOUR message, (3) The influencer must be pro "your message", (4) and let's face it, there needs to be some kind of reciprocity involved, and that's usually rewarded with a perk. #keepingitreal
