9 Tips for Building A Powerful LinkedIn Profile

9 Tips for Building A Powerful LinkedIn Profile | Social Media | Scoop.it

But according to LinkedIn’s co-founder Reid Hoffman, many of its users are not using it to its full potential. In a recent Wired Magazine profile “For LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman, Relationships Rule the World,” Hoffman said:“They think it’s a place they keep their CV online and maybe have some connections with people they know professionally. They don’t think of it as a place to get business intelligence, to research problems, to establish an online presence where other people in the network can find them. It’s as if we’re a screwdriver in a world where people don’t quite understand screws.”If the above description sounds like you, below are some tips to employ to better utilize LinkedIn....

3 Tips for Successful Content Marketing on Tumblr | Business 2 Community | Social Media | Scoop.it

...Regardless of what happens to the newly acquired platform from an advertising and financial standpoint, Tumblr will surely place a priority on retaining its viability as a content channel through which brands can tell a story and connect with consumers.

That’s what Tumblr’s all about: It’s a place to showcase content, and a place to share it. It’s a virtual display case for creative types, and an ever-expanding catalogue of visual art. Tumblr’s users know good photos, animated GIFs, and blog posts when they see them, and won’t hesitate to broadcast your content far and wide — if you can master the platform to ensure your branded work is what they’re looking for....

LinkedIn Marketing Best Practices | Social Media Today

LinkedIn Marketing Best Practices | Social Media Today | Social Media | Scoop.it

LinkedIn is great for making new connections, staying in the know about industry news and trends, sharing content, building and maintaining a following, and amplifying brand reach and visibility....

LinkedIn has an outstanding visitor-to-lead conversion rate of 2.74%, which is approximately three times higher than the conversion rates of Facebook and Twitter. The most common and detrimental mistake brands make on LinkedIn is creating overly “salesy” marketing. LinkedIn is a social network, so be social; set your sights on being an informational resource and providing links to highly shareable content jam-packed with deep industry insight and valuable solutions.

You must foster real connections and genuine engagement to attain success. Do not over-automate your LinkedIn activity or blast promotional spam; such tactics will not fly on LinkedIn. Strategic mastery of LinkedIn will allow you to amplify engagement, effectively promote your company, increase lead generation, gain influence and attract new business. Compared to other social networks, LinkedIn users are more focused on business and career, which increases the impact of relevant industry content...

The Ultimate Guide To Pinterest For Every Brand

The Ultimate Guide To Pinterest For Every Brand | Social Media | Scoop.it

The image-driven network's meteoric rise in only a few years shows the site is more than just a pretty community for people interested in fashion and lifestyle: Marketers are all over Pinterest’s lead-generation aspects, and online hits on products from the site have proved a marketing sensation. According to a study by Shareaholic, the site drives more referral traffic than Google+, YouTube, and LinkedIn combined.

But marketers still struggle to define what makes for a successful Pinterest content strategy--and what does not. Based on my experience with Pinterest analytics and with the support of Pinterest-savvy folks at ShareRoot, I have come up with a list of metrics that marketers should pay attention to when it comes to this social network. Below, you'll find a helpful infographic that lays all the data out....

How to Use Social Listening on LinkedIn for Real-Time Publishing

How to Use Social Listening on LinkedIn for Real-Time Publishing | Social Media | Scoop.it

The difference between a conversation that happens naturally versus one that’s forced is astounding. As a content marketer, which side are you on?

Content marketing is moving away from the “fixed schedule” model into a hybrid approach that uses data to determine well-timed content delivery. After all, content sharing and engagement are much more dynamic than they were a few years ago.

LinkedIn’s Mike Weir, who is the marketing lead for the company’s technology sector, thinks real-time content publishing is one of the most important challenges facing today’s content marketer: “How do you blend what you think your audience should know with what they’re talking about today? This is a challenge that requires a structured approach. Content marketers must deliver more content that addresses the conversation happening right now.”

How to Optimize Your Google+ Page | eZanga.com | Social Media | Scoop.it

In my opinion, we saved the most interesting social network for last. Obviously, optimization and Google+ is going to be an interesting topic, given that most of the SEO industry is most focused on Google+’s owner, Google. Out of all the social networks, Google+ doubtlessly has the most influence over your business’s SEO. For this reason alone, you should have a Google+ page, and you should optimize it.

Optimization is an important key to success on any social network, but it reaps so many more rewards on Google+ in particular. If you’ve tried your hand at Google SEO and found it extremely complicated, don’t worry. It’s not as complex on the company’s social network. Complete the below steps, and you’re well on your way....

How to Use Facebook Open Graph - Duct Tape Marketing | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert

How to Use Facebook Open Graph - Duct Tape Marketing | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert | Social Media | Scoop.it
SEO, Content and Social Media are so related these days that site owners need to grab every advantage they can to wring the most out of their efforts.

Digest...

Facebook Open Graph

Since this is the foundation for all three of the plays I’m suggesting, let’s start here. The good news is that for WordPress users, plugins have been built that make all the coding aspects of these tactics very, very simple. I recommend that every WordPress Site owner install the WordPress SEO Plugin by Yoast. For non WordPress folks you can read the Facebook Open Graph implementation instructions here.

Twitter Cards

The implementation is pretty straightforward and the documentation pretty useful. Once you’ve set the meta data up on your site or page you do have to get validated and approved for the card types you wish to use. Simply go to the validator and click on the validate and approve tab and put in the URL for blog post. The tool will check for the OG code and allow you to submit. Twitter says it takes 2-4 weeks for approval, but when I submitted it took about 5 minutes.

Google Authorship

Google allows content producers to link their site and Google+ profile to content they produce. This includes content you write on your site and content you contribute to other sites. Simply add all the sites you contribute to in your Google+ profile to get this additional feature started. (it may take months to actually start showing up in search, so do it today!)

A bit in the weeds, but you get the point. For the B2B marketer, focus on Twitter first, then Authorship. Remember the earlier scoop: do not use Authorship on product pages.

Crack the Customer Code With Real-Time Segmentation and Predictive Analytics - Profs | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert

Crack the Customer Code With Real-Time Segmentation and Predictive Analytics - Profs | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert | Social Media | Scoop.it
Segmentation - Yes, buyers leave breadcrumbs behind them, in the form of data, with every online click or in-store interaction. But mountains of data don't solve a core problem: How do you ...

Key excerpt...

To increase campaign relevancy and effectiveness, you need to discover the direct and indirect relationships among traditional and digital touchpoints. By analyzing those relationships, marketers can target the most valuable customers for specific products or categories in terms of best potential for purchase, lifetime value, retention, or highest viral factor.

Here are the three key steps...

1. Segment and analyze

Capture real-time, granular website data on response, engagement, and conversion rates from each social and paid campaign. Segment and analyze those data points in real time to identify leading indicators of success. Rapidly assess campaign effectiveness and optimize ad messages, content marketing, or social media tactics on the fly.

2. Contextualize and enrich

Contextualize and enrich real-time data with sales, revenue, and CRM actuals, as well as reference data sources to validate and improve the accuracy of the optimization models. Discover additional relationships that complete buyer segment profiles to improve targeting.

3. Predict and prescribe

Combine real-time and historical data to create an enhanced foundation for running predictive models that reveal the likelihood of future outcomes. And remember, you don't just forecast what might happen. You want the power to create the future you want. That requires access to highly granular data identifying what campaigns and promotions lead to purchases of specific products by buyer segments in a given season.

marketingIO's curator insight, July 22, 2013 12:20 PM

As a B2B marketer, the one singular question you need to ask yourself daily is this: "How can I be more relevant than my competitors to my visitors, leads, prospects, and clients?" Collect your data, segment into useable, (proven) sensible segments, and deliver accordingly. Is this predictive? Yes: as a baseline, it is probably the best approach you can take. Is this automated? Not yet. But remember the caveat that to truly meet expectations, predictive can take you only so far, and that human overlay may be required.

A simple, on topic and responsive scoop article. How does one increase the effectiveness of thier marketing campaign? For once a simple question is simply answered. In a form that is undertandable and adaptable. How? By analyzing those relationships to target valuable costomers. understanding the direct ad indirect relationships within Campaigning will insure a sucessful, well though out and hopefully creative campaign. And if that wasn't clear enough, steps were also included to insure clear undertanding. Brilliant

Social Media is an excellent resource for branding....and it's free.

Alex Ellsworth's curator insight, July 3, 2015 7:15 AM

This infographic shows that the most preferred way for consumers to get updates about a brand is through short updates via platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Naturally, people who are more involved on these platforms mention brands more in their own updates, and share things about brands. Because of this, brands have a huge opportunity to gain more buyers. By using a profile of someone who "likes" a brand, they can view what else they like, and target people who have similar interests. Not surprisingly, the thing most people like to see via their favorite brands on social networks is coupons and discounts. I think it would be helpful for brands to somehow construct a sort of virtual "punch card" for incentive; sharing something, referring likes, engaging with customer service, etc would give the customer a unique code for, say, 5-10% off their next purchase. This way, you are building a unique space on the internet, an interactive place where customers will want to return.
