6 Ways For Leaders To Make Their Messages Resonate

6 Ways For Leaders To Make Their Messages Resonate | Social Media | Scoop.it
When you're truly invested in your message, you don't have to shout.

(From the article): To increase your chances of resonating, ask, "Is this the appropriate time to deliver this idea? Is there anything already being discussed that I can connect my own idea to in order to give it context?"

Your voice is your single greatest possession as a leader. It's what allows you to mobilize and direct your team, and ultimately it's how you build a body of work you can be proud of. If your work matters to you, make the effort to cultivate a voice that resonates, and you’ll find your influence multiplying in ways you never expected.

Katherine Bryant's curator insight, September 14, 2015 2:19 PM

Great summary here of how to truly communicate with your team. My favourite is the advice to "Be empathetic" :

Decide to choose empathy over easier, short-cut optionsIdentify a time when you’ve experienced a similar eventRecall how that event affected you and relive the emotionsThen act based upon your newfound understanding

Taking a few moments before communicating an idea to walk through these four steps will help you connect more deeply with your team.

In the U.S., email marketing is one of the most effective marketing tactics due to the proliferation of smartphones. Mobile email rates increased from 8% to 48% between 2011 and 2014. In China, however, the percentage of internet users with a personal email address is in decline.Part of implementing a global strategy is recognizing the best way to reach users in each country. In China, that seems to be WeChat which is the highest source of internet traffic in the country....

6 Tools for Personalizing Marketing in the Digital Era

6 Tools for Personalizing Marketing in the Digital Era | Social Media | Scoop.it

In an age of automated everything, is it possible to put a personal touch to your marketing? Of course--even though customers are used to sites like Amazon and Pandora where they can get everything they need easily without ever talking to a person. Fortunately, businesses evolve right along with consumer demands. As the head of a marketing department, it's your job to research and adopt the right technology to make your company as effective as possible. Marketing automation isn't going anywhere, but that doesn't mean your entire marketing approach has to be robotic.

No matter what, customers want to feel like they matter, like they're heard, and like there's a real person on the other end of that transaction. Recently, Help Scout, which is also a really cool customer service tool, released a report on the "personalization" of marketing. It reveals that 70 percent of final purchases are dictated by how a person feels they're being treated as a customer....

Via Jeff Domansky
Joseph Palumbo, MBA,'s insight:

I agree with the basic premise of this article. The more high tech tech we become the more high touch we must be. Customers remember 10% of what you told them 20% what you showed them and 70% of how you made them feel. Customers are emotional and irrational, is your sales approach matching their needs?

APAC marketers flag mobile first as key differentiator: Adobe report | Social Media | Scoop.it

Marketers in the Asia Pacific value the smartphone more highly than marketers in other areas of the world, according to research released by Adobe.

Digital Trends 2015, an econsultancy, surveyed more than 6000 marketers worldwide, with 14 per cent from Asia Pacific. About 10 per cent of marketers in the Asia Pacific said becoming a mobile-first company will be the primary way that they will differentiate their organisation from competitors, compared to 5 per cent in North America and 7 per cent in Europe.

A majority of marketers in all three regions chose customer service and customer experience as the primary way to differentiate from rivals....

John Michel's curator insight, August 22, 2014 11:30 PM

The most effective form of leadership is supportive. It is collaborative. It is never assigning a task, role or function to another that we ourselves would not be willing to perform. For all practical purposes, leading well is as simple as remembering to remain others-centered instead of self-centered. To do this, I try to keep these four imperatives in mind:

David Hain's curator insight, August 23, 2014 3:06 AM

"When the best leaders work is done, the people say - we did it ourselves" - LaoTzu

Amy Melendez's curator insight, August 27, 2014 12:53 AM

From the article:

The lesson Washington’s profoundly positive example teaches is that leading people well isn’t about driving them, directing them, or coercing them; it is about compelling them to join you in pushing into new territory. It is motivating them to share your enthusiasm for pursuing a shared ideal, objective, cause, or mission. In essence, it is to always conduct yourself in ways that communicates to others that you believe people are always more important than things.

How To Spark Emotional Engagement In Your B2B Marketing To Close More Sales

How To Spark Emotional Engagement In Your B2B Marketing To Close More Sales | Social Media | Scoop.it

When we’re researching a purchase, something very odd can end up happening. One of the first things that we’ll end up doing is summarising and comparing the specifications of the solution we’re after. This can be anything from the processing speed of a phone to the qualifications of a project team - the effect happens regardless.

The challenge begins when you finally compile all of the options and then have to compare them. We might consider that rational choice can be the best way to make an end decision, but when we’re swamped in options, it can actually stop us from making the choice that will result in a sale.

So, what’s to be done? Potential customers still need specifications for what you offer. You also need to consider, though, how to foster an emotional impact and response, both in theory and in practice....
