Carlos Fosca's curator insight, June 23, 5:22 PM

Nicole Gévaudan's curator insight, June 26, 3:43 PM
"Four propositions are integral to the 2030 Framework:
- The evolution of the traditional disciplinary curriculum should be rapidly accelerated to create knowledge and understanding for the 21st century.
- The skills, attitudes and values that shape human behaviour should be rethought, to counter the discriminatory behaviours picked up at school and in the family.
-An essential element of modern learning is the ability to reflect on the way one learns best
- Each learner should strive to achieve a small set of key competences, such as the competence to act autonomously. A competence is the ability to mobilise knowledge, skills, attitudes and values, alongside a reflective approach to the processes of learning, in order to engage with and act in the world. Global competence is being constructed on exactly this model."

8 digital skills we must teach our children

8 digital skills we must teach our children | Education | Scoop.it

The way children use technology is very different from adults. This gap makes it difficult for parents and educators to fully understand the risks and threats that children could face online. As a result, adults may feel unable to advise children on the safe and responsible use of digital technologies. Likewise, this gap gives rise to different perspectives of what is considered acceptable behaviour.

Infographic: Teaching handwriting in schools

Allan Shaw's curator insight, June 7, 10:54 PM
Recently I have found that my mostly intuitive and practical separation of typing and handwriting for personal use may have some basis to it. Mueller and Oppenheimer (2014) have found in three studies that laptops, when used for taking notes by US college students, lead to shallower mental processing than with notes taken in handwriting, and performance on conceptual questions was also lower than for students who took handwritten notes. Their research showed that taking more notes can be beneficial but using a keyboard led to a tendency to transcribe the lecturer’s words verbatim rather than undertaking the processing and reframing of the words in the student’s own writing that the relative slow speed of handwriting notes requires.
