My Personalized Learning Approach Isn’t About Tech. It’s About Dignity. - EdSurge News

Images on a Website are NOT Public Domain It is essential that our students are able to communicate digitally and visually. However, this also means we need to ensure that students really understand copyright, fair use, creative commons, and public domain. There is a pervasive feeling that anything on the Internet is free, it’s not. …

Hands-Off Teaching Cultivates Metacognition

Hands-Off Teaching Cultivates Metacognition | Education | Scoop.it

A great teacher doesn't teach as much as possible. A great teacher teaches as little as possible, while modeling the behaviors of how to figure something out. Perhaps it seems too obvious to say that your goal should be for students to think as much as possible during your class. But in this case, "thinking" really means thinking about the material plus how to dig in, break it apart, understand it, and build on that. It means thinking about how to constantly get better.

Digital skills that teachers need for the classroom #3: The ability to crowdsource information

Digital skills that teachers need for the classroom #3: The ability to crowdsource information | Education | Scoop.it
As teachers we frequently promote ourselves in our modern role as facilitators rather than knowledge owners and yet when we get into the classroom so much of what we do tends to be telling rather than asking.

Crowdsourcing information is about doing the opposite. It’s about collecting information from the room and beyond and enabling our students to share what they already know and develop their knowledge together.

Some intelligent choices.

Oskar Almazan's curator insight, September 3, 10:13 AM
ISTE began soliciting input from educators in 2016 to refresh the standards. It formed working groups and received feedback from more than 2,000 educators around the globe before the standards were finalized. (ISTE also publishes standards for students and administrators; new student standards were released last year, and standards for administrators are anticipated in 2018.) The standards were crafted to help teachers navigate choices and make decisions as they integrate technology into the curriculum.
