Marilyn Monroe-inspired posters tempt the public with an iconic image.

It’s not very often you’re encouraged to try and sneak a peek up someone’s skirt, but that’s exactly what Preuss und Preuss want you to do as part of their promotional campaign for the book Marilyn: Intimate Exposures. Inspired by one of Monroe’s most famous poses, you need to lift up a skirt attached to a street lamp in order to reveal the poster beneath.

Personally, I would highly recommend this article for anyone interested in social media. I found it to be extremely helpful with its suggested tips on how to properly curate articles and how to go about doing so in an ethical manner. I think that it is important for businesses to be looking into what else is going on in their industry aside from themselves and to be open to discuss those changes with their consumers. By posting other articles from creditable sources, companies have the brilliant opportunity to look more like experts in the field themselves even for just keeping up with current ideas and innovations. Aside from this, it also lets businesses provide their followers with their own take on what is going on in the world. For their customers, curating makes it much more exciting to follow businesses. When companies are not so focused on using social media to push products, they can instead use these forums to be able to express themselves as a “real people” with actual personalities. People who are interested in their business have a great chance of also being very intrigued by other topics or subject matter that is relatable or are in some ways similar. Something to take away from this is the idea that social media should not be used to push products and services on people but rather another median to be able to connect and interact with consumers. By doing so, businesses are able to gain a better insight on what it is their customers are actually looking for and what are some things that they may need to change. It may be time-consuming, but in the end I truly believe that social media is an extremely powerful tool to be used in order to enhance a business in a relatively low cost manner.

This is a question that I have wondered about. While this graphic gives an abbreviated, visual response to the question, it provides key insights into the issue.

The image cleverly illustrates the signs of narcissism before depicting the negative effects of social media, which include ADHD, depression and narcissistic personality disorder and addiction, among others.

It would be interesting to know the reasons WHY "People who use Facebook the most tend to have more narcissistic or insecure personalities" and why "those who [score] higher in narcissism also posted more often on twitter". While this post points out yet another important issue surrounding social media that cannot be ignored by business professionals and users alike, it does not provide enough information for the reasoning behind its statements.

Muy importante en estos días. Reconocer cuando los  medios "son el medio idóneo"

Nicole Paquet's curator insight, February 12, 8:08 AM

This article instantly grabbed my attention when I read the title. It was very blunt and seemed to give social media a negative connotation, but after actually reading it, I began to realize that it was more of a backwards way of promoting social media. The author initially talks about how a big reason as to why many businesses still exist out there who do not take much to promoting their brand online are generally an older generation of people who prefer traditional forms of media rather than websites that confuse more than benefit them. Writer Jeff Bullas also takes a stab at the idea that social media can be easily measurable. It is instantaneous just like the initial content is to post it on there. Feedback from customers can come by so quickly and at no cost at all over these sites. So much information can be gathered through social media as consumers get a chance to voice their opinions on what they are looking for in a brand. There are other good points that he does bring up such as being afraid of having negative comments posted on their main business website. However, on the contrary, there are ways to deal with this type of feedback. For one thing, companies can gain a better understanding of what customers are looking for and may be able to improve on something if there are any complaints. If anything particularly vulgar happens to arise, there are plenty of filters that businesses can use in order to prevent any unprofessional content from being posted on their wall. Lastly, Bullas also mentions how many people feel like social media is just a passing trend. He may be right about that but being a marketing major myself, one of the most important things to keep in mind is to try to stay ahead of the times. Trying to think of what is new and up and coming will be extremely beneficial since everything is constantly changing and companies’ must be certain that they are still satisfying all of their customers’ needs. Right now the hot thing is social media and who knows what will happen in another twenty-odd years.

Capitalizing on the Digital Revolution Still a Struggle for Many - New MITSloan Survey

Capitalizing on the Digital Revolution Still a Struggle for Many - New MITSloan Survey | Social Media | Scoop.it

A study by MIT Sloan Management Review and Capgemini Consulting finds that companies now face a digital imperative: adopt new technologies effectively or face competitive obsolescence. While there is consensus on the importance of adopting digital technology, most employees find the process complex and slow. Many say their leaders lack urgency and fail to share a vision for how technology can change the business. Companies that succeed tend to have leaders who share their vision and define a road map, create cross-organizational authority for adoption and reward employees for working towards it.
