There is a lot of myths out there about business blogging, a fundamental lack of understanding about the subject. Not because it's difficult to explain but because small businesses are bombarded with conflicting information from different parts of the industry and are unable to decipher what is right, what is wrong and what is just plain ol' stupid

At some point or another, we’ve all heard people spout off about the “death” of social media. One day someone announces a boycott of Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest -- the next day, the social network is growing exponentially. So how should you, as a savvy inbound marketer, make sense of it all? As a data-driven and social media-loving company, we’d like to set the record straight: Social media is here to stay. So we’ve combed through some of the hottest new social media research -- including the new 2013 State of Inbound Marketing Report -- to highlight some of the freshest stats that reveal the truth about the current state of social media marketing. Whether you plan to use these stats to inspire your company’s next marketing campaign, convince your CEO to increase your social media marketing budget, or simply justify your current inbound marketing activities, these 18 social media marketing stats are for you. Social media strategies devoid of risk management can lead to long days in the court room. Most businesses are not aware of the legal and reputational risks surrounding social media done poorly. Comments are welcome.

"It’s been said that 85% of the people who work in social media have been in the industry for less than two years. I think it was LinkedIn who first suggested this, but it often explains why there is so much bad advice floating around, so many poorly devised strategic plans and so much money wasted on failed campaigns." We have serious problems because many are self-appointed leaders. Delete the scoop?

Reminds me of the 'attention economy' in Geert Lovink's book "No Comment" I am reading just now for my research:
"In the attention economy, value is measured in the amount of time you happen to spend with any given media object or person. This can bea web site, watching your favorite show on television, text messaging afriend, talking on the phone, or blogging about the concert you attended-last night. For a long time the attention economy remained a hyped-upconcept, launched during the speculative 1990s to point to the shift fromthe production of tangible goods to immaterial services. The point thatmakes attention such an interesting commodity is the fact that it is soscarce. As Michael Goldhaber Writes in his 1996 Principles of the NewEconomy: "Attention is scarce because each of us has only so much of it to give, and it can come only from us-not machines, computers or anywhere else. Attention is another way of saying "time," as in "Where I choose to spend my time."Delete the scoop?

As usual, another great scoop by Robin Martin. This one is VERY helpful to me right now. Thanks Robin.
From the article: 3. Use Google Alerts To Identify Clips, Comment Opportunities and Fresh News This last tool is something more people know about: Google Alerts. It’s typically used so that you get an email every time news about your client hits the Internet. Most set up alerts for the company name, stock symbol, executive names, brand or product names, etc. It allows them to capture a copy of the clip and monitor mentions. (Learn to set up Google Alerts here – it is also under the “More> Specialized Search” area.) However, most PR pros don’t think to use alerts in another way: to identify news articles where they can post a client comment. When a news article hits that is relevant to your client and you aren’t taking part in it, posting a comment is a great way to join the conversation. Delete the scoop?

Robin Good's insight:
If you are interested in what could be a good workflow and set of tools to use to curate content on your own WordPress blog, Nathan Weller has a must-read article for you.
In it, he dissects and explains the tools he uses to curate content on WordPress, from how he aggregates and browses RSS feeds, to how he filters, edits and actually curates the content of each post.
Interestingly his focus is on quality, not on having his site populated by lots of "somewhat relevant" content pulled in automatically by one of the many "content marketing"-oriented curation tools available today.
I think you will find several interesting ideas that you may have not considered on how to approach your curation workflow, let alone checking the several insightful comments at the end.
Lost of valuable information, resources, examples and advice. 8/10

As Clair tweeted "a single twitter handle (AP's) is hacked and the Dow tumbles 150 points." Why? As she explains through a combination of automated trading and lack of social media usage by the traders. Technology is great. But I'm a firm believer that the best way to leverage it is not to let it go on auto-pilot but rather have its output curated by humans - a concept we like to call Humanrithm which we apply at Scoop.it, for instance when our discovery algorithm only makes content suggestions but lets users decide what gets published and what is not. Did we get lucky this time? Some people probably weren't and lost something in that story. But if we don't want SF movies to become real one day, we have to start educating and empowering everyone to curate social media.

(Evaluation)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All our tools should be created to serve humans and not to serve themselves. We must keep this ethical idea in mind for IT systems too. Universal questions should help us. They could be used to make the diagnostic of any system or project:
1- Does it stay afloat ? Is it linked with living world and specially human world ? (Approach)
2- Is it well done ? ( Deployment)
3- PDCA (Prepare, Start, Control, Secure) is complete ? (Assesment)
