This defeats the purpose of going to the movie theater entirely. It does not make sense to have everyone in the audience bring their tablet to the screening to be able to interact. When everyone in the theater is on a tablet, who is actually watching the film? Audience interactions are a great idea but they are not appropriate for places such as movie theaters. –Aellise Czupryna

Sometimes it’s easier to just follow the dotted line as you’re looking to ensure your digital marketing is balanced and complete. One element lost in this infographic is the ability for all of the strategies to work with one another. For instance, utilizing your content marketing to power newsletters that are optimized for mobile devices. That’s not defined in this infographic but it’s an absolute necessity if you’d like to fully leverage email and ensure your emails are read properly. I’ve written before that the modern digital media consultant is more of a conductor, balancing the volumes of each strategy to make some sweet, sweet music!+

More often than not, we find that the key to marketing well isn’t doing everything… it’s balancing a combination of strategies, amplifying the impact by having them work together, and understanding how much of each strategy to initiate in order to maximize results. That said – this is still a great checklist to go down and ensure you’re not missing anything! This infographic also provides some statistics behind the digital marketing trends.

Back at the turn-of-the-century (I just love saying that) I was in retail management. Dance music retail to be specific. The stores that I ran pioneered cutting edge dance music and thanks to DJ culture, good old analogue 12” vinyl was actually experiencing sales and usage growth. Oh, how quickly things can change. It was around that same time that iTunes launched and changed the way that we purchase, manage and play our music forever. That was one of the first signs of the evolution of retail.

Fast forward 14 years and that sector of retail has changed so radically that now DJ’s can purchase music live on their smartphone in the middle of a playing a gig. According to data from Baynote the retail industry is forecast to experience more change over the course of the next five years than it has during the past one hundred years. News Corp CTO Tom Quinnrecently told CeBIT attendees that consumers are now innovating faster than businesses. Dynamic brands are capitalising on some emerging retail trends, however businesses that ignore the evolution of retail could be left behind.

According to Oliver Smith of Unruly Media, “Social video is word of mouth marketing done digitally via social.” Social video is a beneficial marketing technique for businesses if the placement, distribution and an understanding of various video platforms are taken into account. Businesses should consider social video because consumers are 85% more likely to buy a product after watching a video about it. The article outlines four tips for businesses when implementing a social video marketing campaign.
