How social media is like fashion | WNY Online and Social Media Marketing News | Social Media and Fashion | Scoop.it
Before she sends out a tweet or posts something to Facebook, Crista Botticello, owner of Ooo la la Boutique, a clothing store in East Aurora, N.Y.
Kaitlyn Bajorek's insight:

My favorite thing from this article is this quote "Social media is like fashion because it’s about knowing what to wear first; being the first person to set the trend. I think it’s important to keep your customer engaged in every type of business, not just fashion.” stated by the Botticello the owner of the boutique discussed through out the article.  I have never thought of social media as fashion but I definitely see where it is.  When a company sees their competitors posting something that they are not on social media then you know they are going to start posting the same thing next.  Just like fashion, a star is wearing a certain shirt so now you want to wear that certain shirt.  Everything in life is a trend and a fad and in order for your business to be one of the top, it has to be up on these trends and fads,  or at least be close to the first to know about it.  This will make a company stand out because they are up with the "cool" things and in the case of fashion is exactly what people are looking for.

Social Media Takes Over London Fashion Week - Business 2 Community

Social Media Takes Over London Fashion Week - Business 2 Community | Social Media and Fashion | Scoop.it

throughout this article it Social Media Takes Over London Fashion Week
Business 2 Community
As London Fashion Week came to a close last week, it's clear that social media has become a game-changer for the fashion industry.

Kaitlyn Bajorek's insight:

Throughout this article it discusses the way that social media was seen at the London Fashion week.  It goes on to tell us that throughout the week there was a hashtag that was used so people could see all that was going on during the week.  I know that I personally used the hashtags during the Mercedes fashion week in NYC so I could look at all the videos and pictures that were taken.  A hashtag is one of the most important things, I believe, in social media.  It allows companies to set a certain thing that they want hash tagged and then they can just click on it and find out who is talking about them and find out the positive and negative things people are saying.  When something is negative the company can tweet back and try to find a way to help the customer have a better experience.  When it is positive they can see what they are doing right in the eyes of their customers.

Kaitlyn Bajorek's insight:

Although this is not an article, it shows how fashion companies are using social media sites to not only promote their products but to also promote jobs.  This small boutique decided to post a picture on their Instagram page saying that they are hiring and where to send their resume.  Seeing how this is a boutique, they know that the people following them are truly interested in their company and may possibly want to work for them.  Fashion companies have a very big presence on social media sites because they are able to sell their products through these sites and post pictures of their products and also marketing campaigns.  I think this is a great way for companies to show that they are hiring because it is a way to get these new graduate's attention because they are always on social media sites.

Kaitlyn Bajorek's insight:

This article was very interesting to me because some day I hope to be working in the marketing department for a fashion company.  Throughout this article you learn about the three leader in social media which are Victoria Secret, WalMart, and Burberry.  I really like learning about the different ways that they get the attention of their target markets.  Victoria Secret did the obvious showing less skin to get the markets attention, WalMart based everything around the seasons and not the products and Burberry was based on the products.  I think that the ways that these companies are getting the target market can be really helpful for everyone to know.  When a company is solely posting things about their products they are going to run out of things to post but these companies spice it up to show different things just so their name gets out there.  As long as you are posting on the platforms you are marketing yourself no matter what is being posted.
