Dr. Pamela Rutledge's comment, July 4, 2013 8:13 PM
Transmedia depends on engaging very primal psychologies--empathy, curiosity, the need for certainty and self-relevance--to get audience participation. The power is, as always, in the story. But the beauty of a transmedia strategy--compared to crossmedia--is that you don't have to tell the whole story at one time or in one medium, thus heightening the psychological response and increasing the motivation to explore and contribute. I love the Toshiba/Intel piece.

Alexis Niki's curator insight, July 24, 2013 8:32 AM

Favorite insight from author Simon Staffans: "There’s no contest here, at least not for me. Story is everything when it comes to transmedia. Is it a compelling and immersive story that has the weight and the bones to stretch to different platforms? Does it have a story world already in place, or is it easily conceivable how such a world could be designed and developed? Are the protagonists and antagonists (and side characters) suitable for a deeper mythology? Is it possible to sense the existence of a narrative superstructure somewhere along the road? If a project’s Story supports transmedia, you’re halfway there. If it doesn’t, don’t bother."

Marco Bertolini's curator insight, July 24, 2013 9:28 AM

Même si le concept de tranmédia est loin d'être neuf, son utilisation ne va pas de soi.  Quand et pourquoi l'utiliser ?  Quelques réflexions d'un spécialiste.

James Carter:  "After five seasons, two universes, and multiple timelines, Fringe ended its run January 18, 2013 on Fox. I’m proud to say I stuck with this show to the very end. More than anything – like other fans – I connected with the cast’s phenomenal performances. When the sci-fi was good, the show was great. When there was more “fi” than “sci,” the actors buoyed the show to the next peculiar portal."

Loved this show ... it had some 'jump the shark' moments, but it was one of the best scifi series to come along since BSG.  I will miss the characters.
