"....Obama’s Twitter has expressed an opinion of Romney’s potential presidency. Following Clint Eastwood’s allegedly ad-libbed speech at the Republican National Convention directed at a chair, in which an “Invisible Obama” sat, memes were generated near-instantly parodying the event.


“They rapidly became part of the story themselves,” said Jack Bratich, a professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies.


The Obama campaign released a photo of the president sitting in a chair, with the caption “This seat’s taken.” The photo currently has more than 500,000 likes on Facebook.


These different styles of social media use match typical campaign strategies, said Dr. Ruth Mandel, director of Eagleton Institute of Politics."
