How much is twitter worth (to small businesses)?

How much is twitter worth (to small businesses)? | Social Media 3.0 | Scoop.it

Today the third major social network is becoming a public company. As with all major IPO’s, we will read a lot of diverse and conflicting opinions on its valuation: to some Twitter will be an overpriced money-losing startup, to others it will be the next major player of the Web and undervalued. To add a data point to the debate, the Scoop.it team decided to study the value of social networks to small and mid-size businesses.

Our company has been focusing on Facebook for approximatley a year. In our experience thus far, Facebook has been a more effective social B to C platform than Twitter. That said, as we learn and progress with Twitter, we are confident that Twitter will compliment our Facebook and other social platform efforts.

This article makes a lot of valid points that can be used in every day on twitter, and in life in general! First impressions are as important on Twitter, and I think that is something many young professionals may overlook in interview and online. Also, I think many people follow their friends on Twitter, even if they are unrelated to their professional career, which can crowd their feed with social related things, rather than tweets related to education. This article also shows that it is possible to use your tweets outside of the Twitter realm, just by presenting your tweets on other social media sites! This seems to be a great checklist for the young professional, helping us utilize a site we most likely already frequent, but enabling us to turn it into a career-helping venue.

How Brands Use Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC]

How Brands Use Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC] | Social Media 3.0 | Scoop.it

Did you know that 97 percent of top brands are using Twitter in 2013, compared to just 62 percent in 2011?

Recent data that surveyed more than 250 leading brands in the U.S. and UK, shows that two-thirds had multiple accounts on Twitter. More than half (57 percent) had switched the tools they used to tweet in the last year, and firms in the States tweeted significantly more than their counterparts across the Atlantic...

"5 1/2 Best Twitter Practices" Infographic

"5 1/2 Best Twitter Practices" Infographic | Social Media 3.0 | Scoop.it

We love Twitter at NJI. After all, it’s one of the fastest-growing social media sites in the world. But still, even with all of those tweeps populating the Twitterverse, some people need a little help figuring out whether to dip their toes in the water or jump right in and make a splash. So we decided to design an infographic containing five (and a half) best practices for Twitter. And what better way to present such information than in 140-character tweets? We used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to present all of the data on social media’s favorite bird. We’re quite proud of our first infographic, and hope you enjoy it.

The 5 Types of Social Followers that Every Business Needs [INFOGRAPHIC]

The 5 Types of Social Followers that Every Business Needs [INFOGRAPHIC] | Social Media 3.0 | Scoop.it

When you’re a brand establishing yourself on social platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, in the very early days you’re usually less concerned about who is following you and more about how many...

It’s superficial, of course, but large numbers of followers on Twitter and Likes on your Facebook Page do have provide a level of social proof that makes you more attractive to new followers, and new Likes – when someone sees that you’re already popular, they’re far more likely to make the leap and get on board themselves.

But for businesses looking to maximize the ROI of their social media strategy, how many is always far, far less important than who. Pretty soon you realise that a big number is meaningless unless it’s actually converting into brand awareness, website footfall and sales – so who should you be looking to attract?

Early adopters, social sharers and power-users are all pivotal in helping your brand reach critical max, but they’re not alone. Indeed, lurkers and even haters can become powerful influencers if you take the time to engage and inspire them.

This infographic takes a look at the five types of social follower that every business needs...
