Five years ago, SEO was all the buzz. Today, it has shifted to "content marketing," which aims to create stories humans want to read and engage with. - The above chart is a good summary of this trend.
This is a good visual to explain the importance of good content.
This one slide alone summarizes the major trend of these past few years.
In other words, Social Media is becoming the new SEO.
This has at least 2 consequences for Content Marketers:
1. Content Marketing is becoming more and more important: companies can't use old fashion backlinking techniques anymore.
2. Content needs to be shareable and target humans - not robots. In particular content curators who will amplify their content impact by adding the right context to the right audience.
A few days ago I posted a graphic showing only the basic social media platforms. Today I found this graphic from Digital Insights that has current and interesting statistics and information about the largest and most popular social media sites. ...
This will help you figure out what social media to use for your business. Personally, I like just about all of them.

I could not say it better than this quote from the scoop, "Content marketing is a marketing technique of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action."
Like, seriously. How many experts can simultaneously shout from roof-tops (virtually of course since rooftop shouting is so passe’ – just like billboards and newspaper ads – now it’s all about blog posts!) about the amazing new marketing method – #CONTENTMARKETING!!!!!
Have You Heard All the Hype About Content Marketing? The New Thing? Not only is the frenzy resulting in volumes of asinine content like press releases announcing klout scores, but it also fundamentally misses the point. Content marketing isn’t new. This great infographic that @JoePulizzi recently included in one of his posts shows that the practice is at least a century old, if not 4 millennium. So if it’s not actually new…Then what’s the hype? Fair question.
And the answer isn’t content, it’s ubiquity of high speed internet access and quality of search engine results....
Well, let's see what all the hype is about according to Content Marketing World.
Content marketing. Something that has been around for a long time. How we use it and why we still use it to this day.
A growing number of organic consumers, natural health advocates and climate hawks are taking a more comprehensive look at the fundamental causes of global warming. And its led them to this sobering conclusion.

Completamente apaixonada por infograficos e suas facilidades de pensamento visual. esse aqui faz um belo resumo de onde está o publico nas midias sociais.
The key word in social media is social.
As such, it’s a two-way game. Brands and businesses that use channels such as Twitter and Facebook to simply broadcast their message rarely get the sort of results they would expect. Fans and customers want and demand to be heard, and brands that carefully nurture these relationships benefit from higher engagement levels, boosts in website traffic and sales, strong word of mouth marketing and customer loyalty.
But sometimes, despite our best efforts, things go wrong. So what do you do when the worst happens?...

We’ve heard about how Facebook is losing its street cred and its teenage audience as more and more baby boomers (their parents) join the platform. Where are all the teenagers going to, then? The answer is WeChat.
Chinese messaging app WeChat is the fastest growing social app used by youths worldwide, according to a study by Global Web Index. The latest study was conducted based on the feedback from teenagers aged 16 to 19 globally, excluding China. WeChat saw a 1,021 percent increase in usage among youths between Q1 and Q3 2013. The second-fastest growing is Vine at a rate of 639 percent, followed by Flickr (254 percent)....
I don't mind not hanging out with the 16 - 19 year old teenagers on Facebook. In fact, I kind of prefer it. The only thing is, I wish Facebook did not have such a 'stick up its butt' sometimes.
Marketers, here's a trend to watch.
Parents in & Kids out....generation after generation its happens every where....now its seems to be happening for FB...check out "WeChat" is getting better.....this is a Chinese app, supported by Chinese population....but still seems FB is loosing its "cool"....wait & watch.....any thoughts?
Sometimes I wonder if Maslow pyramid of need should be revised to position social needs at a higher need level
Press releases are overused by many organizations and fail to actually reach customers. This post looks how organizations can ditch the press release and use other tactics including media pitching, video and social media updates instead.
It makes sense that the press release which is a 20th Century communication venue, would be surpassed by some form of social media in the 21st Century.
Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg tried to acquire Twitter not once but twice, through official channels and via co-founder Jack Dorsey.

While I am certain (certainly cynical) that every one of these chats , blogs, books, and pages are the single most informative, game changing, and perhaps life altering ways that a person could spend their time, I am beginning to question when Social Media platforms turned into other more intrusive marketing methods?
May I ask… when is it appropriate to revisit the rules of professional selling or perhaps just civility?...
Many laymen don't know the difference. But there is a world of difference between social media and advertising.

Something new for Digital American. Sounds interesting.
"Yes, content marketing, as an industry, is taking off. But it’s important to realize where brand content came from to understand the direction it should be heading in. Brands have been telling stories for centuries. It started when they had just a few channels at their disposal, and continues today — at a time where they literally have hundreds of media channels to choose from for marketing.
"A quality story that is told to the right person at the right time will always cut through the clutter. There will be another new channel tomorrow… and another one the next day. It’s easy to be seduced by the new. As smart content marketers, we need to keep in mind that channels come and go, but good stories (and storytelling) last forever."
There is often a great story behind the success or even failure of a business. The story is the spirit of the company itself. A well told story, without the advertising hype, is an essential component to a company's content marketing.
The only dimensions you need to know if you are designing content for social media.
Here's your template to create the right size visual landscapes for the major social media venues.
A growing number of organic consumers, natural health advocates and climate hawks are taking a more comprehensive look at the fundamental causes of global warming. And its led them to this sobering conclusion: Modern, industrial, monocrop farming are burning up our planet.
How did they reach this conclusion? First, by taking a more inclusive look at the scientific data on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—not just carbon dioxide (CO2), but also methane and nitrous oxide. Next, by doing a full accounting of the fossil fuel consumption and emissions of the entire industrial food and farming cycle, including inputs, equipment, production, processing, distribution, heating, cooling and waste. And finally, by factoring in the indirect impacts of contemporary agriculture, which include deforestation and wetlands destruction.,,, http://www.nationofchange.org/how-factory-farming-contributes-global-warming-1358786945

Here is quite a list of documented material.
This is an awful lot of information but all of it spells one thing: "Be aware and beware!
"Our modern energy-, chemical- and genetically modified organism (GMO)-intensive industrial food and farming systems are the major cause of man-made global warming." Studies show that not only are greenhouse gasses caused by Carbon Dioxide but also by methane and nitrous oxide. Farming includes so many different ways of using fuel form the machinery to the end of food production. Another way farming isn't helping is through deforestation, and wetlands destruction. "When you add it all up, the picture is clear—contemporary agriculture is burning up our planet. And factory farms or, in industry lingo, Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), play a key role in this impending disaster." Climate rise is complex but a few of the top reasons are coal burning, and fossil fuels. To get this under control we would need to stop using 90% of the fosil fuels we are using.
We can't live in fear of the future, we have to have farms no matter what they emit into the air. Without farms, we couldn't survive.
