We get a lot of infographic pitches. Almost all of them suck. Why?
Here's a lovely video and great article about infographics and narrative as a form of visual storytelling.
What is an infographic? You will see plenty of examples here.
What does this have to do with narrative? The best infographics tell a story or trigger stories within our minds. The designer being interviewed on the video, Francesco Franchi explains how and why.

Infographics are becoming a strategic marketing tool and art form all its own. Using graphics to help display information is not a new concept, it has been around for centuries. These days, however, it is becoming a strategic marketing tool and art form all its own. People have different views of infographics, they are picky about them just as they would be a painting. Some graphics have almost no text whatsoever, leaving the entire concept it is trying to get across up to the viewer to understand. Other infographics use imagery to help relay statistics and to entertain the viewer. Via Jonha Revesencio

With the introduction of Search, plus Your World, when your prospects search in Google for the keywords you want to be found for, relevant results will be returned in that searcher’s “Personal Results” from their “Google+ Circles”, as well as related “People and Pages from Google+”.
Think about how this impacts your findability and the Page One search results for everything.

The Google+ Common Name policy will never be the same. Google now allows both nicknames and full-fledged pseudonyms on Google+.
More than 99% of those who sign up for Google+ “sail through” the account naming process, but these changes address the, according to Google, less than 0.1% that now end up in appeal. Among that small number are companies (roughly 20%) that Google+ now steers to Google+ Pages, which allows brands to set up destinations on the social network. Another 20%, Google told Mashable “would either prefer to use a pseudonym or another seemingly unconventional name.” The majority of the 0.1% just want to add a nickname. Social media marketers always wonder about timing - when is it best to post on Twitter and Facebook for optimum engagement? Via Jonha Revesencio
A group of engineers from Facebook, Twitter and Myspace have ganged up against Google in an effort to prove that the search giant is unfairly promoting its own social media site, Google+, at the expense of relevant search results for its users.
The feature does not show relevant material from competing social media sites, like Facebook or Twitter, even if those sites may be more relevant to users, according to some critics.
By promoting its Google+ pages, Google is building up an arsenal of social information—in other words, data about the hobbies, shopping habits and other details about individual users – that it will ultimately be able to use to make search more personalized and relevant—and to display better-targeted advertisements.
