Breaking down the definition of change management

Prosci's definition of change management is shown below:

Definition: Change management is the [application of] the set of tools, processes, skills and principles for managing the people side of change to achieve the required outcomes of a change project or initiative

The definition has three distinct clauses that will be addressed in more detail in this tutorial:

to achieve the required outcomes of the project or initiative

For this tutorial, we will examine the clauses in reverse order, from the last to the first.

I see change management referred to in an increasing number of places lately. In this tutorial, Prosci provides an insight into their convept of people-side change management. There are other flavors, for example: Kotter - who defines his methodology as Change Leadership and ITIL - more to do with IT process management.

 

Since we seem to have an increasing number an frequency of change in our businesses and lives it seems a good time to learn about our options to deal with it all.
