Prediction: A Paradigm Shift in Social Media Sharing

Prediction: A Paradigm Shift in Social Media Sharing | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it

Google + Circles has finally provided sharing in the way that most people want. Even Google may not realize the avalanche of changes it has started, though. Google’s implementation of Circles will usher in a new paradigm for sharing: one where we no longer focus on where we want to share but instead focus on who we want to share with.

Teacher Wrote A Letter And It's Going Massively Viral! I'm Shocked And Speechless.. | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
Steven Wedel is a high school English teacher in Oklahoma City. Recently, he wrote a letter about his frustration with the education system and it has left thousands of people speechless.

In his letter, he talks about having to feed his students snacks because Michelle Obama’s school lunch program fails to provide enough food for them.

What’s even more shocking is the fact that many of his students are reluctant to go home after school because of how they are treated by their parents.

He tried contacting his students’ parents about their problems but they never seem to care.

Wait till you read what he wrote about the lawmakers. It is unbelievably sad that this is happening in America.

This is a letter that must be shared by all of us.

Social media is becoming an ever-increasing part of running a business, but where do you start when you need to narrow down your target audience? What inspires each generation the most?

Citipost Mail have being doing research and have come up with some rather interesting insights into what each generation tends to favor when it comes to content.

While it’s clear to see that social media platforms such as Facebook are firm favorites across the board, there are differences that could mean your marketing efforts aren’t maximised if using the wrong platform for your target audience. What might work for Generation Z won’t necessarily work for Baby Boomers and vice versa.

There are a number of different factors that relate to social media with each generation. Each one of these factors can impact how successful a marketing campaign is so it’s important to know what these are and how you can utilize them.

How to encrypt your entire life in less than an hour

How to encrypt your entire life in less than an hour | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
When one of the most powerful people in the world encourages us to be paranoid, maybe we should listen.
And Grove isn’t the only powerful person urging caution. Even the director of the FBI — the same official who recently paid hackers a million dollars to unlock a shooter’s iPhone — is encouraging everyone to cover their webcams.
But you obey the law. What do you have to worry about? As the motto of the United Kingdom’s surveillance program reminds us, “If you’ve got nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear.”
Well, law-abiding citizens do have reason to fear. They do have reasons to secure their devices, their files, and their communications with loved ones.

Evidence EPA Colluded With Monsanto

Evidence EPA Colluded With Monsanto | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
Environmental Protection Agency Accused of Colluding With Monsanto

But first, some background: Based on the IARC's classification of glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) followed suit, declaring glyphosate a carcinogen under Proposition 65.

As a result, all glyphosate-containing products must carry a cancer warning. Monsanto attempted to overturn the OEHHA's decision, but Fresno County Superior Court Judge Kristi Kapetan ruled against it.3,4,5 More than 60 plaintiffs are also suing Monsanto claiming Roundup caused or contributed to their non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

One of them is Yolanda Mendoza,6 who has battled stage 4 non-Hodgkin's for over a year. She believes her cancer was caused by Roundup, which she would spray on her lawn every weekend, using a backpack sprayer. She has lost sensation in her fingers and jaw due to nerve damage.

Monsanto has defended Roundup's safety in court by leaning on a 2016 EPA report that found glyphosate is "not likely to be carcinogenic" to humans.7 At the time, Jess Rowland was the associate director of the EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs, Health Effects Division,8 and Rowland was a key author of that report.

The EPA's conclusion, which runs counter to the IARC's determination, met with severe criticism — so much so, a scientific advisory panel was recently convened to evaluate the strength of the EPA's decision.

According to some of the members on this panel, the EPA indeed appears to have violated its own guidelines by discounting and downplaying data from studies linking glyphosate to cancer.9

Next, attorneys for plaintiffs suing Monsanto found email correspondence between EPA toxicologist Marion Copley and Rowland suggesting Rowland may have colluded with Monsanto to find glyphosate non-carcinogenic.10,11

In one email Copley cites evidence showing glyphosate is toxic to animals, adding "It is essentially certain that glyphosate causes cancer." She directly accuses Rowland of playing "political conniving games with the science" to help Monsanto and other pesticide manufacturers.

According to court records, Rowland also warned Monsanto of the IARC's determination months before it was made public,12 giving the company time to plan its defense strategy.

Why Silence is So Good For Your Brain,

Why Silence is So Good For Your Brain,  | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
We live in a loud and distracting world, where silence is increasingly difficult to come by -- and that may be negatively affecting our health.

In fact, a 2011 World Health Organization report called noise pollution a "modern plague," concluding that "there is overwhelming evidence that exposure to environmental noise has adverse effects on the health of the population."

We're constantly filling our ears with music, TV and radio news, podcasts and, of course, the multitude of sounds that we create nonstop in our own heads. Think about it: How many moments each day do you spend in total silence? The answer is probably very few.

As our internal and external environments become louder and louder, more people are beginning to seek out silence, whether through a practice of sitting quietly for 10 minutes every morning or heading off to a 10-day silent retreat.

Inspired to go find some peace and quiet? Here are four science-backed ways that silence is good for your brain -- and how making time for it can make you feel less stressed, more focused and more creative.

1. Silence relieves stress and tension.

Micro-Influencer Marketing: A Comprehensive Guide

Micro-Influencer Marketing: A Comprehensive Guide | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
A newer concept known as micro-influencer marketing recently joined the social media scene. It’s the same concept as influencer marketing, but on a smaller scale: Brands partner with individuals with smaller followings on social media to promote products with authentic, visual posts instead of sponsored ads.

In this blog post, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about micro-influencers, including what brands are using them successfully and how you can connect with these individuals to promote your brand.

What Is a Micro-Influencer?
Micro-influencers are social media users unlike typical celebrities, experts, or public figures. They're individuals who work or specialize in a particular vertical and frequently share social media content about their interests. Unlike traditional "influencers," micro-influencers have a more modest number of followers -- typically in the thousands or tens of thousands -- but they boast hyper-engaged audiences.

3 Unusual Tactics For Making Your Testimonials More Persuasive

3 Unusual Tactics For Making Your Testimonials More Persuasive | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
Plenty of articles have already been written offering great advice for using testimonials. And those tips can generally be summed up as:

Include a photo and other details
Providing the customer’s first and last name, location or any other relevant details makes testimonials more realistic. But an even bigger factor is including a (real) photo of the testimonial-giver. There’s plenty of research to back this up.
Use testimonials from people your customers can relate to
According to implicit egotism theory, we generally trust people who are either like us or who we aspire to be like. And that means strong testimonials are often from folks who reflect how your prospects see themselves.
Use testimonials from people with authority (if possible)
The most powerful testimonials come from people your audience sees as an expert or otherwise having authority. In essence, you’re ‘borrowing’ the positive feelings people have toward these individuals (this is called the Halo Effect) when you get their endorsement.
Reinforce a specific benefit
Emphasis on specific. Vague testimonials that say things like “great experience” or “tremendous value” won’t connect with anyone. And it might even hurt your conversion rate. Instead, testimonials should be used strategically as ‘proof’ to support specific claims you’re making on your pages.
OR

Quash a serious objection
Research by MECLABS shows that placing testimonials near sources of anxiety (such as the ‘Add to Cart’ button) can ease objections and improve conversions. Bottom line: don’t just randomly sprinkle testimonials throughout your website. First, consider the role they’re playing on the page.
These tips make sense, right?

And if you’ve been in the conversion optimization game for any length of time, I suspect you’re already familiar with most of them.

Now, let’s dive into 3 lesser-known techniques for making your testimonials more credible, engaging and persuasive.

How to Boost Conversions With the Right Customer Insights

How to Boost Conversions With the Right Customer Insights | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
To stay ahead of the competition, your SaaS company must focus on customer insights to boost conversions. Push the limits to discover gaps in your customer data.

“By measuring, interpreting, and applying knowledge from customer experiences, and using this information to fuel decisions, companies can elevate their customer insight function—and their own position in the marketplace,” writes Christine Barton, senior partner and managing director of The Boston Consulting Group.

It’s time to find out what matters to your customers. Let’s explore how your SaaS team can gain more knowledge.

On-Site Behavior
For some businesses, the website is sometimes the only interaction a consumer will have with a brand. Therefore, it’s essential for companies to understand how buyers engage with their sites.

On-site behavior refers to consumers’ actions on your website. This engagement ranges from what page of content they visit to what calls-to-actions they click.

By observing visitors, you’ll learn what interests the potential buyer and what issues arise that cause them to cease engagement.

This data is especially important when it comes to moving consumers down the sales funnel. On-site behavior can uncover friction points hindering buyers from completing a transaction.

Roundup is more toxic than glyphosate alone, lawsuit claims

Roundup is more toxic than glyphosate alone, lawsuit claims | Social Buzzr | Scoop.it
Up to 1,000 times more toxic
An in vitro study looked at eight major pesticides in terms of their complete formulations, including Roundup. In a staggering finding, the products were all many times more toxic to human cells than when just their isolated adjuvants or active ingredients were tested – some as much as 1,000 times.
Another in vivo study of pigs showed glyphosate and the adjuvant POEA combined in herbicide formulations were toxic to the pigs and lethal in high doses. However, glyphosate alone was not. A similar study of rats showed Roundup formulations were far more toxic than just glyphosate on its own.
Back in 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared glyphosate to be a “probable carcinogen,” and the state of California did the same. The maker of Roundup, Monsanto, promptly sued California.
At this time, herbicides and pesticides not accurately tested and regulated
The dangers of these herbicides and pesticides have been effectively hidden from public awareness for two main reasons. First, the safety of these products are decided mainly by testing its active ingredient – not by testing the entire chemical cocktail. Second, corporate-friendly lawyers and judges protect big companies like Monsanto from adhering to safety regulations and facing justice when warranted.
The additives in weed killers and pesticides can comprise as much as 95 percent of the product. However, at this time, Roundup and other such products have largely gone untested or adequately regulated by the EPA. When will Monsanto and the EPA finally take steps to stop poisoning the public and potentially damaging the human genome for generations to come?
