Matthew Cox's insight:

The new movie "Crash Reel" describes the great risk of injury there is in snowboarding. This video is also an inspiration for all to achieve their dreams. Kevin Pearce came out of a coma and in the next 2 years was able to snowboard after hours and hours of physical and mental therapy. I think this video is an amazing story and inspiration to young riders around the globe.

Game of In Your Face: Torstein Horgmo vs Halldor Helgason - YouTube

In Your Face with Torstein Horgmo & Halldor Helgason.
Matthew Cox's insight:

Snowboarding is not all gold medals and competitions. In fact it is quite the opposite. Professional snowboarders Torstein Horgmo and Halldor Helgason play a game of in your face. For those viewers who have not heard of ¨In your Face" it is the same thing as playing ¨Pig¨ in basketball. This game is a great way to make your riding more diverse and progress your snowboarding more and more. I think this video is a great way of showing how snowboarders are getting better and better each day while still having fun with close friends.

Never Not Part 2

Never Not Part 2 takes a deeper look at snowboarding, going beyond the action, the tricks, & the travel to expose the people behind the progression. By eleva...
Matthew Cox's insight:

I think this video describes what snowboarding is. Never Not Part 2 explains the work, dedication and creativity that is out in to snowboarding. This video covers the competition side of riding using the X Games and Olympics. This video does a great job of showing how much hard work is put into making one good clip for a riders film part. Never Not covers the more gruesome part including falls, injuries and frustration. The most important part to me in this video is the concept of uniqueness. Bode Merrill does a great job of explaining to viewers how there is no right way to snowboard and that is why backcountry riding is so amazing and freeing. I think it is so spiritual and eye opening to how amazing nature really is. I think this video is perfect to explain what snowboarding really is to new or amateur riders.

Pat Moore: Blueprint - Episode 5: Mastering the Art of Snowboarding ... | Snowboarding at Its Finiest | Scoop.it
I guess in snowboarding, the term progression has a lot of different meanings. For some people, progression is the next trick. What's going to add another cork or another spin or whatever. For a whole other group of ...
Matthew Cox's insight:

Pat Moore has been in the sport of snowboarding for decades. Recently Pat has been progressing the sport through coaching and making video parts. I think that this video is trying to show that you don't have to go to the olympics in order to enjoy snowboarding. Snowboarding is about having fun, socializing, progressing your own riding by pushing yourself and your friends. For me Snowboarding is a creative outlet where I can be myself and express who I am in my riding. I this video was made to show viewers that you should create a unique meaning of what snowboarding is to you.

scott stevens defenders of awsome - YouTube

scott stevens part in defenders of awesome
Matthew Cox's insight:

Scott Stevens is not your average professional snowboarder. Scott does not do any competitions. He helps out at snowboard camps helping future generations to progress snowboarding just as he is. When he is out free riding or filming for a video part his style is so unique. All his ideas and way he looks at a feature is so different from any other rider in the sport. Scott is a perfect example of how snowboarders ride in there own unique style and is a creative outlet to all who enjoy the sport.

I think it is really cool that he doesn't even compete, he just snowboards because he loves it. It is also cool that he enjoys helping people as well.

Yeah it is so nice to see that there are still professionals out there that ride for the love of the sport no the money.

Matthew Cox's insight:

In the first Slopestlye event in Olympic history Sage Kotsenburg takes home gold. Sage is the role model of snowboarding, fun, energetic, talented and sincere. If you are to new riding or not sure what snowboarders are all about this is the poster child of snowboarding.

Snowboarding is the only event I like to watch in the Olympics because of the excitement of the competitions. I saw you went to a snowboarding event in Colorado over spring break. How was it? Did you win any events?
Matthew Cox's comment, April 9, 2014 12:55 PM
USA won for Slopestlye ass seen above however in Halfpipe we did not place. Shaun White ,Halfpipe champion for the last 6 years, did not perform well in this years Winter Olympics and got 4th. There is always next time though.

Heli Snowboarding with Travis Rice

PLEASE READ! Before you ask questions. I do not own the rights to this song!!! this song is by, Unlimited Gravity Remix-Sail In February of last year i was g...
Matthew Cox's insight:

Although this video is just an average edit from professional snowboarder Travis Rice it has an enormous role in the progression of snowboarding. Travis Rice was the first to take snowboarding to the next level in 2011 with his new movie the Art of Flight. Snowboarding was becoming a stagnant sport. There were only so many different jump, half pipe, and  rail tricks that could be landed or created. Travis Rice went out on a mission to move snowboarding from man made jumps to natural powered turns  and cliff drops. His movie, the Art of Flight, moved the sport in a totally different direction. This new movement in snowboarding allows individuals to be creative and pick where to turn, spin, jump and just have a great time. I think this was a great way to progress the sport of snowboarding and I am so exited to be apart of it.
