Klip is ready to take on Socialcam for mobile video sharing | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

It seems every month or so another mobile video sharing service pops up, promising to make it easier for users to share experiences they’ve shot on their phones with friends.

The latest, called Klip, aims to separate itself from the rest of the crowd with high-speed adaptive bit-rate technology that will allow users to scroll through videos and a new tagging system that lets them set categories to keep track of when new videos are uploaded.

With an ever-growing number of consumers walking around with video cameras on their mobile phones, Klip hopes to become the go-to app for shooting, uploading and sharing videos with friends.

With a simple interface for connecting to networks like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, Klip makes it easy to reach friends and family where they already are.

Google+ Hangouts Testing Ability to Broadcast Live On YouTube « PlusHeadlines.com | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Since Hangouts were presented to the social networking community back in June, many have speculated that the utility of the video conferencing platform could expand greatly if they were to allow an unlimited number of people to watch in on a Hangout, rather than limit it to just the 10 people who were participating in it. Well, It appears that Google may be about to make a major announcement around their Hangout feature of Google+

Twitter Is A Real-Time Information Network, Not A Social Network

Twitter Is A Real-Time Information Network, Not A Social Network | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

In an informal chat at Twitter headquarters on Thursday, chief executive Dick Costolo talked about some of the numbers behind the service (as Erica reported earlier), including the fact that the network has over 100 million active users now.

That may be a long distance away from Facebook’s more than half a billion, but the fact is that Twitter isn’t really competing with Facebook — it’s not really a social network, but a real-time information network.

In other words, it’s a media entity, and the sooner it starts living up to that reality the better.

Using Google +1 For Rankings & Profit

Using Google +1 For Rankings & Profit | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Since the launch of Google's +1 feature, search engine optimizers (SEOs), business owners, and spammers have all circled around the +1.

Services have launched selling them, rumors and whitepapers have scattered across the web “proving” that +1's improve rankings, or “proving” they don't.

For right now, no one knows for sure what's going to happen, though educated guesses can be made.

We know +1's will affect the algorithm, so the guesses are how – and, more to the point, how can we take advantage of the +1 button?

Optimize The Google +1 Button

Optimize The Google +1 Button | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Last week Google made a major change to the +1 button, allowing users to share a +1 with Circles on Google+. Essentially, the +1 button now has similar functionality to Facebook’s Like button. I’d been procrastinating on Like button optimization so this was the impetus I needed to finally do something about it.

Is it Better to Share on Google+, Facebook or Twitter?

Is it Better to Share on Google+, Facebook or Twitter? | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Jeff Bullas never disappoints, this article is packed with vital information you need to know no matter if you're curating content to build your personal brand or marketing services.

Here's what caught my attention:

"The survival of the social species is a digital battle that will create opportunities and disrupt traditional business models for decades to come."

The Battle for Social

This small change to Google’s search features reveals an evolution of the web that is an early indicator of the growing battle for social that will over time produce winners and losers but will also create a web that will surprise you with its speed and capabilities. The announcement and launching of Google+ saw Zuckerberg respond with a a Skype feature offering free video calls and promising more to come.

Social is about Sharing

All marketers know that if you can make something so shareable that it goes viral then you will produce results for brands that will sell products, make people famous and maybe even position your agency as part of marketing folklore.

The New Facebook: A Platform For Human Storytelling

Great piece by Brian Solis who is one of my favorite people.....he never disappoints.

This sums it up and it's profound - Facebook has the social graph and this hits all of us where we live:

“Timeline is the story of your life,” said Mark Zuckerberg “All your stories, all your apps, express who you are.”

For those who focus on the debate between Facebook, Google Plus and Twitter are missing the true story. Today at Facebook’s f8 developer conference we  were reminded of the what the story really is,

It's about you and me............

Excerpt:

“For the first time ever in a single day we had 500 million people use Facebook” –

Mark Zuckerberg

No, it’s not about features, capabilities, or the number of users.

Profound!

We were reminded about the power of something much more important, our experiences, relationships, the content we create and share and how each paint a picture of who we are as individuals.

Today Facebook introduced features for its users and developers alike that position Facebook not as a social network, but instead as a platform for storytelling and meaningful engagement. How is this different than the profile you’ve come to know over the years?

The team at Facebook explains…

Timeline is a new kind of profile, one that lets people tell their story in a visually-rich and artistic fashion. In addition to aesthetics, Timeline is essentially a social home page for all that moves you, from media to experiences to people.

The biggest difference you’ll notice is presentation. Starting with the substantial image that you choose to depict your persona, the new format essentially turns your profile into a Flipboard-esque (magazine) pictorial rich with updates, content, and connections…all designed to tell your story, your way. Don’t be confused by the name however, Timeline is much more than that, it’s essentially a storyboard for your digital and real life as told by what you share and what others share with you.

Fundamentals of SEO for Facebook Fan Pages

Fundamentals of SEO for Facebook Fan Pages | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

Many have tried, and failed, to write a good post about how to SEO a Facebook fan page.

For example, optimizing the filename of your profile picture is one popular piece of advice that doesn’t really matter, considering Facebook just renames the file something like 198135_10150109366....jpg.

Another popular tip: you should link to your main website from your Facebook page. Yes, you should for visitors. But this doesn’t optimize your fan page because Facebook just nofollows, redirects, and clusters your URL in a mess of code anyway.

So let's take a different approach to Facebook SEO today.

I want you to imagine that your Facebook fan page is your website – or another website for your brand at least. While it may not ever rank first for a keyword, you still want it to be optimized.

Here is what to do:

Build Your Content Around Authority, Curation and Context

Build Your Content Around Authority, Curation and Context | Smarter Relationships Through Social Media Marketing | Scoop.it

This is a great article reminding us how important it is to post content with a purpose. What is your natural authority and expertise?

Who is your audience and what do they care about?  Do you speak to them through knowledge and authenticity?  In short, do you give your intended audience reason to trust you?

This is important, because there are an ever-increasing number of news sources.  So ask yourself what stands you apart from search algorithms and your competition?  If you have no knowledge of what you are writing, you cannot provide context.  Why should your audience read the pieces you select?

By offering commentary to show how a piece relates to your audience, you set yourself up as an authority on a subject.  And if people think you understand a subject that interests them, you establish yourslef as someone capable of providing the information they want to read consistently.  They'll seek your content which leads to loyal followers where all kinds of opportunities abound.
