Veremos.

Who’s the leading smart-city brand? | Energy | #smartcities | Scoop.it
More than half of the world’s nearly seven billion people now live in urban areas, and that proportion is expected to reach almost 69 per cent by 2050. To avoid pushing local and global systems to the point of collapse, cities will need to become much smarter and more efficient in years to come.

Smart-city companies don’t need just products and services, though. They also need to communicate their message effectively to potential partners, customers and other stakeholders. In a fast-evolving sphere like smart cities, visibility and brand awareness can prove almost as important as the solutions themselves

Infographics of the Day: How Segregated Is Your City? | #smartcities | Scoop.it

Recently, cartographer Bill Rankin produced an astounding map of Chicago, which managed to show the city's areas of racial integration.

Eric Fischer saw those maps, and took it upon himself to create similar ones for the top 40 cities in the United States. Fisher used a straight forward method borrowed from Rankin: Using U.S. Census data from 2000, he created a map where one dot equals 25 people. The dots are then color-coded based on race: White is pink; Black is blue; Hispanic is orange, and Asian is green.

The Top 10 Smart Cities On The Planet

The Top 10 Smart Cities On The Planet | #smartcities | Scoop.it
Crunching a list of variables about innovation and sustainability, we rank the world's smartest cities, from New York to Hong Kong (and with an unexpected winner).

The term "smart cities" is a bit ambiguous. Some people choose a narrow definition--i.e. cities that use information and communication technologies to deliver services to their citizens.

I prefer a broader definition: Smart cities use information and communication technologies (ICT) to be more intelligent and efficient in the use of resources, resulting in cost and energy savings, improved service delivery and quality of life, and reduced environmental footprint--all supporting innovation and the low-carbon economy."

Paradoxcity

Paradoxcity | #smartcities | Scoop.it

Suddenly, the press, the media, summarizes the point at which we are about the smartcity.

Interesting articles speaking about business, technology, changes, incipent experiences, etc.

However, the citizen as the participatory body, still does not take its place as essential protagonist of this story.

The city, decided exclusively in town halls, architecture studios and works councils, is no more a valid model. As they are not either, the isolated citizens movements, acting outside of businesses and municipalities

The city has to be decided on the street. It is a fact can no longer be ignored.

The citizen ceased to be a mere consumption target already, and he is showing it.

It's worth, compare the experience of cities that have started some time ago with the new models of city, hand by hand with the population, and rethink the guidelines of this "paradise" with the face of bubble, which hangs over our heads.

Technicians, companies, institutions, citizens, are striving to provide the "city of ideal efficiency" but just only as a model of business, or, just as a citizen movement: They are not working together.

Unless both the citizen and the companies, politicians, be involved and work together in the transformation of the cities, beyond being the buyer-seller of services pack,

the smartcity will not be.
