If children are going to be successful users of the Internet it is vital that they learn the 'language' of the Internet and therefore it is imperative that schools focus on digital literacy skills - search techniques and strategies ... boolean operators (words and phrases), useful tricks and tips eg sites -site:edu; site:au, different search tools, different search engines, how to search for images – advanced search and usage rights. As this is a constantly changing environment it is also essential to stay in touch with new developments and to be aware of obsolete search strategies eg the wonderwheel.
