Collaboratively Create Multimedia Documents With Lucidpress

Collaboratively Create Multimedia Documents With Lucidpress | smart cities | Scoop.it

"Lucidpress is a slick new service from the same team that developed Lucidchart. Lucidpress is a slick tool for collaboratively creating multimedia documents."

Beth Dichter's curator insight, October 3, 2013 9:20 PM

Richard Byrne has explored Lucidpress, a new tool from the creators of Lucidchart (which is one of the best deals around for educators for creating mindmaps) and states "I look at Lucidpress as being the best of Apple's Pages and the best of Google Documents combined into one slick service."

Like Lucidchart this tool is built for collaboration. The site states “receive feedback from coworkers…collaborate with anyone on any browser, anywhere. With live chat, document presence, and commenting, you’ll never have to compile scribbled feedback…”

Educators will be pleased to hear that free accounts are available.

HyperCities ~ New Learning Times

HyperCities ~ New Learning Times | smart cities | Scoop.it

by Carmen James

"HyperCities is a dynamic educational project at the intersection of cartography and information visualization, humanities and technology, geography and digital space. The project has produced grounded cultural narratives in 27 international cities. HyperCities uses Google Maps and Google Earth (among other technologies, like GPS-enabled cameras and cell phones) to allow users to explore historical layers of city spaces. Accessing the cities and exploring them is straightforward. Once a city has been selected, users can select the time period or the area of the city they are looking to explore on the map. Within each frame, users can access everything from scholarly content to community-generated content. Users can also click on historic sites to learn more about them and overlay older maps of the same cities."

This is much inline with my readings on the zero marginal cost society. Being able to print your own car may not be practical of cost effective today but once it is and car 3D models are available free or low charge on the web, where will the car industry go? I understand why Tesla is building huge battery manufacturing plant as they may have seen that providing key components may be the future of the car industry?

Fascinating idea that could revolutionize how we buy, repair, and maintain our cars/trucks.  Imagine dialing up a Porsche sportscar and having it in your garage in a few hours?  Farfetched...but possible. I bet the major car makers are a bit concerned about this.  Aloha, Russ.

Indeed I had argue in my works (also discussed here: http://www.linkedin.com/groupItem?type=member&trk=groups_most_popular-0-b-ttl&gid=37945&view=&qid=b9602a17-705f-4827-8993-ec0761b852e8&goback=%2Egmp_37945&item=5812292805464203266)  on Artificial Consciousness that the process which led to intelligence was more than simply computational and dependant on a configuration which brought about consciousness. Because either one is capable of solving problems successfully or not, does not imply that one is intelligent or capable of thinking, such as a machine which can almost always outperform a human given a specific task, yet is not intelligent, althought the human is.

It is therefore mandatory for us to not look at common human cognitive errors as simply erronous but as actually footprints in our understanding of the human brain and its processing. Looking at consciousness as the fundamental building blocks for intelligence, and an empirical science of problem solving dynamics, are definitely particulates this neurological research is seeking to achieve which confirm Don Sigma Corp.'s  particulates on the works ;)
