90 Percent of Small Business Use Social Media [Infographic] |

90 Percent of Small Business Use Social Media [Infographic] | | Small Business in Arizona | Scoop.it

A survey of 600 small business owners across the United States indicates that 90% are actively engaged in social networking sites and 74% perceive social networking as valuable — if not more valuable — than networking in-person.

When 42% of owners say that 25% of new customers discovered them through sites such as Facebook and Foursquare, it is crucial that your business is online and social.

Doug Hecker's insight:

Every day there is more and more social media options and the space is crowded and confusing for small business owners to navigate. The infomation on social media is very compelling as demostrated in the infographic and small business owners must engage at some level to stay ahead. My suggestion is to pick just one platform where you know your ideal clients or customers are enagaged and start building those connections and relationships,  just get started and build!

6 Things You Need to Know About Raising Capital for a Small Business | Small Business in Arizona | Scoop.it

"Money makes the world go around, of that we can be sure," sang Alan Cummings in the popular stage play "Cabaret." Certainly, the half-million Americans starting new businesses in 2012 have reason to suspect the truth of those lyrics since raising capital, whether to fund a new technological marvel or open a franchised restaurant, is one of the most challenging aspects of starting a new business.

Unfortunately, the need for capital never ends. This means that understanding how to find and shake the "money tree" is critical. And before you begin your search, there are a number of crucial questions you must ask yourself - and answer.

Marketing isn't broken. Big companies are just risk averse. Successful small businesses will always take the creative approach to marketing, because they have to (and they either don't have access to big data or don't know how to use it).
