Razlog 5*: Evropski muzej strpnosti in človeškega dostojanstva

Razlog 5*: Evropski muzej strpnosti in človeškega dostojanstva | Slovenian Genealogy Research | Scoop.it

Reblogged from Knapco: European Museum of Tolerance and Human dignity

Ko sem jeseni pisala o pogumu in gorečnosti Johna (João Crisóstomo), večnega borca z razlogom, še nisem vedela, kako zelo se trudi za ohranitev in obnovo domačije nekdanjega portugalskega konzula Aristidesa de Souse Mendesa. Skupaj s konzulovim vnukom Carlosom de Sousa Mendesom sta bila aktivna pri fundaciji Fundação Aristides de Sousa Mendes, ki je pripravila razstavo, posnela film in imela v načrtu pred porušenjem rešiti konzulov dom ter ga dati v uporabo javnosti kot muzej strpnosti in človeškega dostojanstva (Museum of Tolerance and Human dignity), posvečenega vsem žrtvam inkvizicije, druge svetovne vojne, holokavsta in drugih nestrpnosti.

Več: Portuguese Times: Križarske vojne Johna Crisóstoma, butlerja aktivista iz New Yorka, 5.

Exploring Slovenia

Exploring Slovenia  | Slovenian Genealogy Research | Scoop.it

The Republic of Slovenia is a young country by global standards, having been independent since 1991. The decision on a completely independent country was confirmed at a plebiscite in December 1990. And in 2004 Slovenia joined the European Union.

First independent 25 years of the Republic of Slovenia have already become a history. But there is much more to discover about the history of Slovenians, who settled in this part of central Europe in 6th century.

The scope of this topic is to bring forward ascertainment of history and national heritage: less about individuals and more about the nation. Welcome those Slovenes around the world and all others, interested in this piece of Europe. Genealogists are gathered to:

- Slovenian Genealogy portal, Slovenian Genealogy Society home page and related links in Slovenian language)

- Glossary of Slovenian Surnames and Slovenian Genealogical Index of family names, first names, dates and places of birth

- Slovenian Genealogical Gazetter (subscription, slovensko)

- Forum and other Genealogy links

- Slovenian Genealogy Society International

Please note, that posts are only brief summaries - click the title or "Show original" at the bottom of the box, to see the original article. Usually also photos are interactive, just like links in the text are.
If you are interested in the topic, follow us and be informed about updates.

STA, Maribor:

A high-profile ceremony in Maribor’s central square, Trg Leona Štuklja, started on Saturday, 14 January 2012, as the beginning of the one-year stint of Slovenia’s second largest city as one of the two European Culture Capitals in 2012. The event was addressed by President Danilo Türk, who is the honorary sponsor of the project, and European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Androulla Vassilou.

The biggest cultural project in Slovenia’s history will bring more than a thousand events to Maribor and its five partner cities in the next 350 days that will, the organisers say, culturally and spiritually revive Slovenia.

The second Europaen Capital of Culture in 2012 is Guimarães in Portugal.
