The group performs traditional dances from all the regions inhabited by Slovenians. Nearly all the dances are performed in traditional costumes worn in the regions of the dances' origin.
The France Marolt Academic Folklore Group was established in 1948 in Ljubljana by France Marolt, an ethnomusicologist at the Institute of Ethnomusicology.
