Research and Work Agenda: 11/11 to 11/18/2013

This is my research agenda and work agenda for this week.

Terry Elliott's insight:

1.  Write up report on my test of the nightly routine.

2.  Need to experiment with blueblocker sunglasses

3. Need to research blue light in LED's and other light sources.

4.  Begin writing second draft.

5.  Tell it as a story.

6.  Write about rationale for making sure you get good sleep/ counter to the you'll sleep when you're dead school of sleep. 

7. Tell others' stories of sleep, some extreme. 

8. Economic Cost of sleeplessness.

So far I have not had spectacular results from my night routine. I am going to try to streamline my routine and perhaps add blueblocker glasses between 7-9 and in bed if I watch a movie or read from a screen in bed.

The older I get the more I am realizing that I cannot get by with crappy sleep.  Hence, the two apps here.  I am going to try sleepbot tonight.  Never tried an Android app sleep tool.  Sweet dreams.

Who knew the value of orange over blue?  So I need to get some blue blockere sunglasses for flourescent and computer monitor light?  There are so many effects around us that we are not even aware of--like the light spectrums of artificial light and their effect on our sleep rhythms.

In summary, three people reported great improvement in sleep from honey at bedtime. Stuart found several other things: 1. If he ate a lot of sugar during the day, the effect went away. 2. Other carbs didn’t work. 3. An empty stomach was important. 4. Effective doses ranged from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon.

Here: My Nightly Sleep Plan

I have gathered my research so far into these several to do's  for getting a good night's sleep.  I consider this to be just as important as my goal of 10000 steps a day for exercise.

1.  Trigger: a phone call from IFTTT for 7:30 pm every weekday evening that tells me it is time to stop watching screens.

2.  Shower and etc.

3.  Nighty Night tea

4.  Review of the day/ Three Good Things

5. Book in bed

6. Pzizz for 60 minutes

7. Record sleep in morning

8.  Evaluate on Sunday morning
