Helpful tools, ideas and templates for the busy eLearning designer

Helpful tools, ideas and templates for the busy eLearning designer | Skolbiblioteket och lärande | Scoop.it

Working in eLearning design can be overwhelming; eLearning designers spend many hours struggling to come up with the best possible design. It may seem like adding more programs and apps to the designer's kit can't possibly be the solution, but well-structured time management and handy tools make the difference between eLearning projects that cost and eLearning projects that benefit.

We know busy eLearning professionals want to know all about trying to maximize their time to address the many competing and yet vitally important priorities in front of them. So, here are some tips and tricks to keep on top of things.

5 Ways To Prove To Your Boss You Need Content Curation

Have You Made the Business Case For Content Curation? If not, this data will help persuade your management to invest in content curation.

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, July 30, 6:53 AM

This is a solid summary by Heidi Cohen on why content curation is besoming essential to businesses. Its role to content strategy mix has evolved from being anecdotical a few years ago to becoming central as it not only helps fill the gap but provides meaningful synergies for your created content.

Now as Heidi puts it, content curation is not free: while it's - as she puts it - "a low cost way to fill your content marketing pipeline", low doesn't mean zero. I still regularly have debates with people who think that automated aggregation can replace content curation: it doesn't. There's no way to set it up once and forget about it. You'll need to invest as little as 15 minutes a day to achieve results but these 15' need to be spent.

Beth Kanter's curator insight, Today, 11:00 AM

Good points to make the value proposition, works for nonprofits too.  Does not tackle the professional development angle.

[Slideshare] Meet Generation Z: Forget everything you learned about Millennials

Marketers have been focused on Gen Y (a.k.a. Millennials) for more than a decade. In fact, Millennials are the most researched generation in history!

But Gen Z (born 1995 to present) is different from the Millennial generation. In many ways, Gen Zers are the opposites or extreme versions of Millennials and marketers need to adjust to them.

We are just beginning to understand Gen Z and its impact on the future, but this report explores what we know and foresee.

Skills, attitudes, and attributes come closest to what students need to learn. The learning that can be taken forward has to be grounded in concrete work being done by students which is meaningful in their immediate lives. Some of the skills on the list are less important than others and gain in importance over time. A key consideration is how to make them relevant in students' immediate work. What do administrative and clerical skills mean to a student?

This definition clarifies what good looks like in social media curation:

"Digital curation therefore is not just about finding relevant material, although that is a significant part of it, but is also about creating a specific and unique experience by utilising the resulting materials which then become contextualised within a new space. A curator, therefore, whether she is a journalist-by-proxy such as Popova or a student completing an assignment in a classroom, not only collects and interprets, but also creates a new experience with it. In this respect, curation is a process of problem solving, re-assembling, re-creating, and stewardship of other people’s writing  . . .

Great poetry can be the kind of art that stays with you forever, be it Mid-Term Break by Seamus Heaney or Daffodils by William Wordsworth. However, given the old-school nature of poetry means that a lot of students will need a great introduction from a teacher. James Harlan discusses some cool ideas for getting students into the artform.
