To Succeed, Forget Self-Esteem - What's important is self-compassion. | skillful means for conscious living | Scoop.it

If you look under the Self-Help heading on Amazon, you'll find roughly 5,000 books listed under the subhead Self-Esteem. The vast majority of these books aim to not only tell you why your self-esteem might be low, but to show you how to get your hands on some more of it. It's a thriving business because self-esteem is, at least in Western cultures, considered the bedrock of individual success. You can't possibly get ahead in life, the logic goes, unless you believe you are perfectly awesome.

You relate this to your well-being and pursuits of athletic performance:

2. Nutrition- what do your refrig stocked with healthy foods. This helps in having an environment set to support your positive habits. If you are going to have that special treat, make it a reward for your postive habits.

This Is Going To Sound Controversial, But There's No Such Thing As Stress

This Is Going To Sound Controversial, But There's No Such Thing As Stress | skillful means for conscious living | Scoop.it
Stress doesn't actually exist. Now, I know this may sound a little controversial, but please bear with me. There is no stress ; just thoughts that we perceive as stressful.
this time this space's insight:

Becoming stressed out is a choice we make between our ears based on faulty perceptions. It's a choice we make when we  are operating in "everyday" consciousness mode and our perceptions are strongly influenced by attachment to beliefs and aversions, mental set (optimistic or pessimistic),how much control we have over situations, and our resilence level. By making the shift into the observer mode and practicing mindfulness we can learn how to choose not to stress out.

Does Solitude Have a Place in Your Life?

Does Solitude Have a Place in Your Life? | skillful means for conscious living | Scoop.it

"Though it’s technically possible to be connected thousands of people thousands of miles away - anytime, anywhere -too much of a good thing can lead to a bad place. Solitude is a human need and to deny it is unhealthy for both mind and body. Living in a technologically connected 24/7 society that undervalues solitude and overvalues attachment is stressful and stress is a killer."

this time this space's insight:

We all need to digitally disconnect and enjoy some solitude every day to remain balanced. Disconnecting from technology to daydream, meditate, pray, chant, take a walk, ride a bike, stroll along a beach, watch a sunset or do absolutely nothing at all are effective stress reducers. They are life savers.

Healing, Meditation and Spirituality are Linked and Work Together

Healing, Meditation and Spirituality are Linked and Work Together | skillful means for conscious living | Scoop.it

Healing, meditation and spirituality are linked and work together.  Meditation heals, and healing improves meditation. Spirituality is what bonds healing and meditation together.

If you’re having trouble in meditation you may need to receive healing to clear the way. Similarly, meditation will improve your healing ability by raising your consciousness.

The convergence of healing, meditation and spirituality is easily missed. Healing and meditation are foundational  practices of spirituality. The end state of these practices is spirituality itself, with a caveat: Spirituality is an inborn, natural state, and practices aren’t there to get to any state. Although spirituality is already  a part of human makeup, it tends to be left uncovered, unclaimed and unacknowledged.

Often life circumstances are sequenced in a specific pattern that leads to a spiritual ‘awakening,’ or sometimes there’s an affinity to spirituality from early on.

Spirituality is the embodiment of the truth that the way we know ourselves as bodies and individual egos is a very limited self-identity, one that traps us in many other erroneous identities and mistaken notions about life.

The truth is that life goes on and if you focus on how badly you’ve been hurt, you will continue to hurt. To recover from a breakup must grieve your loss and learn from it;  stop feeling sorry for yourself and be determined and proactive in helping yourself get over it.

Research has proven that what we feel and the way we think directly effects the health of our heart. Those suffering from "broken hearts" don't just suffer emotionally, they suffer physically too. Making the decision to use your brain to let go of love is a life saver.
