Lego Robot Beats Human World Record For Solving the Rubik’s Cube! | Singularity Hub

Lego Robot Beats Human World Record For Solving the Rubik’s Cube! | Singularity Hub | Singularity-Pass (English) | Scoop.it

Solving the Rubik’s Cube puzzle popularized in the 1980s is an exercise in futility for many of us, but to a world class “speedcuber” it’s a challenge of mere moments. The current official human record for the Rubik’s cube 3×3 puzzle is just 5.66 seconds. I know a robot that did it in 5.35 seconds. Take, that humanity!

Company Brings Aliens Power Loader Closer To Reality

Raytheon-Sarcos transformed a Ditch Witch into a robot which isn’t far off from the power loader from Aliens. The robot, which is designed to help people work more safely in dangerous environments, uses force reflection technology to mirror the movement of the user’s arms, wrists and shoulders with amazing strength and dexterity.

Anything that slave encounters in terms of force is also fed back to the operator so he can actually feel what’s happening in the workspace [...] With added strength, the operator doesn’t need two or three guys trying to muscle something around. This thing just picks it up and dexterously positions the material.
