If you are dealing with children and having to help them cope with having to sign then you could use this story as an abstract example of other things that need to sign in order to communicate. Maybe the child will be a little more accepting if they know they they are not the only ones who have to sign to communicate. Delete the scoop?

This article really puts things into perspective. You never really think about someone who is deaf and having basically a mild panic attack because no one is able to communicate due to the language barrier. Delete the scoop?
