Svenja John Kunststoffschmuck Jewelery Schmuck Berlin Makrolon reddot syntetic art autorenschmuck contemporary jewellery

"Since 1994 Svenja John has been making jewellery. In Berlin. Since then she has been using macrofol, a polycarbonate processed to create foil. And since the very beginning, her jewellery has been pieced together. Using ingenious techniques she invents form modules which she then joins up and suspends one within the other, forms nestling within forms, stacked one on top of the other. She thus creates semi-opaque clusters and structures that remind one of scientific models, of crystalline and organic structures. The model of an atom, perhaps? An attempt at representing heavenly bodies in orbit? Stylised blossom or allusions to polished precious stones?"

Apple’s Tim Cook On Why The Nike+ FuelBand Works And Google Glass Doesn’t

Apple’s Tim Cook On Why The Nike+ FuelBand Works And Google Glass Doesn’t | shubush healthwear | Scoop.it
Beyond the razzle-dazzle keynotes, it’s rare that we get a peek inside the mind of Apple.
petabush's insight:

Mark Wilson is right to comment on those who wear glasses/sunglasses as a matter of style; and he picks up an important point about whether wearables are 'more about fashion than utility'. These comments all float around concepts of body theory, style, and how we feel about and sense the objects that we wear. In short then we are looking at aesthetics and emotional design.

It is not surprising that so few people involved in this tech, and working in this space, are coming up with considered emotional and aesthetic ideas about wearing these objects on the body.

I look forward to the day when one of these artefacts demonstrates such understanding in its design.

In the meantime, to say "I think the wrist is interesting" is just so disappointing to hear for those who are designing objects for the body! Please let's not be quite so tired and predictable. That is not to say we shouldn't design for the wrist, just to say lets look at all the other sites  available for us, which may be more than just 'interesting'.
