Radar may have found 'hidden tunnel' | Shallow Geophysics | Scoop.it
Ground penetrating radar may have found a "hidden tunnel" underneath a Nottinghamshire town. (Ground penetrating radar may have revealed a "hidden tunnel" beneath a Nottinghamshire hairdresser's.
Martin Roseveare's insight:

A follow up article to an earlier one about tunnels under Newark. Sounds like old cellars but I guess 'tunnels' are more evocative!

Martin Roseveare's insight:

Intriguing - I wonder if they have plans to commercialise this and if so what the cost might be? The description implies the sensor might be directional though this is unclear. Immunity to high field gradients is also not clear.

Martin Roseveare's insight:

No amplitude scale is a shame as clearly this site is very magnetic. You have to wonder whether a wider clip range right reveal more details of the interior of what is clearly a fascinating site. The strong magnetic fields, more accurately, strong gradients, are probably due to midden material filling spaces between the masonry.
