ABMP Gets an Apology from Redbook for “Happy-Ending Massage”

They consider it offensive and dangerous when anyone—particularly the media—blends discussions about the massage therapy profession and the sex trade. Make no mistake, you've published a feature about a married ...
TheBodyHouse.biz's insight:

OK... ironically the original article is about a WOMAN seeking a sensual massage and declares it saved her marriage. This is definitely a reversed situation in the sensual massage industry. Since, most clients are male (and often married) and the providers are female (and almost always single) in this branch of bodywork.

However, the article brings up an important point, especially when applied to men. So that's the viewpoint from which I will comment. After all, I am a female provider (who's not married) and all my clients are men (many of which are married).

So why is it that so many married men visit sensual bodyworkers?Well, a lot of reasons I should think but, I won't be so shallow as to say "because men are men".

From what I've been told, having an experience with an attractive woman that involves him reaching an orgasm without intercourse is... a tremendous stress reliever.

I think the fact is, most men don't want to leave their wives because they love them. Even the ones they aren't having sex with anymore.

I think it comes down to essentially 2 things... lack of connection and a need for distraction. I address these 2 things in the article " Why Do Married Men See Sensual Bodyworkers".....

Indeed, an analysis of cyber-infidelity would be incomplete without consideration of cyber-sexuality. While it would be convenient to avoid the seedier side of the Internet, we must draw attention to both the positive and negative sides of how technology can deliver sexuality in all its forms to our literal doorsteps and desktops. Sexuality has the ability to inspire both the best and worse in human nature.

Sexual Victimization History Predicts Academic Performance in College Women.

Sexual Victimization History Predicts Academic Performance in College Women. | Chivalry, Sex & Relationships in American Culture | Scoop.it
College women frequently report having experienced sexual victimization (SV) in their lifetime, including child sexual abuse and adolescent/adult sexual assault. Although the harmful mental health sequelae of SV have been extensively studied, recent research suggests that SV is also a risk factor for poorer college academic performance. The current studies examined whether exposure to SV uniquely predicted poorer college academic performance, even beyond contributions from three well-established predictors of academic performance: high school rank, composite standardized test scores (i.e., American College Testing [ACT]), and conscientiousness. Study 1 analyzed longitudinal data from a sample of female college students (N = 192) who were assessed at the beginning and end of one semester. SV predicted poorer cumulative end-of-semester grade point average (GPA) while controlling for well-established predictors of academic performance. Study 2 replicated these findings in a second longitudinal study of female college students (N = 390) and extended the analyses to include follow-up data on the freshmen and sophomore students (n = 206) 4 years later. SV predicted students’ GPA in their final term at the university above the contributions of well-established academic predictors, and it was the only factor related to leaving college. These findings highlight the importance of expanding the scope of outcomes of SV to include academic performance, and they underscore the need to assess SV and other adverse experiences on college campuses to target students who may be at risk of poor performance or leaving college

It might help explain why male employees sometimes respond aggressively to their female superiors.

Via Lisa Medoff
TheBodyHouse.biz's insight:

I found much of this article to be true. I've experienced a lot of what they describe in many different types of work situations.

There is a quote near the end of the article that goes like this ...

"Previous research shows, for example, that men who have been made to feel emasculated in some way are later more likely to sexually harass a woman..."

This is definitely the case. However, I would suggest that it goes far beyond the workplace and extends into personal areas of our lives as well.

We women are (still) looking to good men to uphold a standard that your weaker comrades have not yet reached.

Women know how to hold their own. What would be nice if men could dig a little deeper within themselves and recognize the value in how women adapt... both in positions of authority and positions of subordination.

To do this will uplift yourself, other men and women everywhere....
