The Art of Difficult Conversations | Trainers Warehouse Blog

The Art of Difficult Conversations | Trainers Warehouse Blog | Serious Play | Scoop.it

Those of us who are conflict averse hate difficult conversations. It’s no wonder that experts have started calling them “Courageous Conversations.” What makes them hard is:

Uncertainty about how others will reactFear of it getting out of controlDiscomfort about opening a can of worms with no solutionNot wanting to make things worse

Skills Converged > Creative Writing Exercise: The Last Straw

Skills Converged > Creative Writing Exercise: The Last Straw | Serious Play | Scoop.it

In this creative writing exercise delegates change a given instruction to a funny statement that is deemed more effective. The humour helps to increase the likelihood of the instruction being followed and also make it more memorable. It is a good exercise for writing short instructions/signs to be used in public places.

Ariana Amorim's insight:
Convert a typical instruction found in public to something that is more engaging and more likely to be followed.

I don't usually include tools that cost, but Explain Everything is one app I was willing to purchase with my money. It lets you record a presentation and then export is as a mp4 to your camera roll, so you can share it with others. Great for the flipped classroom.

Recess in the rain... and snow... and... | Serious Play | Scoop.it
Whether it’s snow, rain, poor air quality, or extreme cold, inclement weather can put a kink in school recess. Kids need physical activity every day. Students benefit from play outdoors, including the fresh air, sunlight, increased space to run and even the change of scenery. Time outside is healthy and helps students return to the classroom ready to learn again. Parents and educators can help children get their necessary daily physical activity regardless of the weather conditions.

Why Your Business Needs To Consider Mind Mapping

Why Your Business Needs To Consider Mind Mapping | Serious Play | Scoop.it

There is definitely an art to creative brainstorming the ingredients usually include at least two people or even a group, a warm atmosphere, general excitement and a willingness to toss out ideas and thoughts and a great listening ear. There is something so energizing, in the fact, that we are able to help and support someone in this manner. When the option for an in-person session is not available, there's a great software program you can use, have fun with and create your own individual brainstorming session called mind mapping.
