Beth Dichter's curator insight, May 11, 6:25 AM

Are you looking for resources that provide "copyright friendly" images, audio and video for your learners? This post, by Richard Byrne, provides six resources. Each one provides access to materials that are in the public domain.

* The Moving Image Archive. This is part of the Internet Archive and includes over 1.7 million clips.

* The Public Domain Review is a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation and provides access to images, books, films, audio recording and essays.

* The Free Music Archive (FMA) provides access to free music. This collection is curated and provides a range of genres.

* Sound Gator provides free sound effects. Do you need the sound of a horn honking, or whipped cream coming out of a can?  This is a great place to go.

* Pixabay and the Morgue File are both great places to search for images. The Morgue File is a collection of photos, and Pixabay provides high-resolution images in the public domain.

Byrne provides additional details on each of these six resources in the post. Click through to learn more.

The Key to story structure in two words: Therefore & But

The Key to story structure in two words: Therefore & But | Serious Play | Scoop.it

There are a ton of storytelling-related books and websites in the cosmos. And there is no shortage of people giving story advice and tips. Much of the advice is helpful, but the enormous volume of information related to writing or telling better stories can be overwhelming. Therefore, when someone credible comes along who offers free, insanely simple yet effective advice for improving one's story, he will find a very large audience indeed. This is exactly what happened just a few years ago, all quite by accident it would seem.

Mark Schenk at Anecdote (biz story folks from Australia) hit it again with this post on using stories to build decision making skills.

Not only does this article talk about why this can happen, Schenk actually shares the process with us. Yay -- concrete how-to steps! 'Gotta love that.

I curated this piece because it just goes to show how versatile storytelling is. It's a great example of another business storytelling application that works.

I have my own process for how to use storytelling to solve thorny problems that's been field tested and published by Pfeiffer (The 2012 Pfeiffer Annual: Consulting ). Schenk's article completes the picture.

Read the article, grab the process, and try it out.
