Ariana Amorim's insight:

"Try a 2 week documentary challenge of your own. First, find a handful of documentaries that pique your interest, then schedule them out for the next 14 days. Watch them during your free time, consider substituting them with your normal routine of TV or video games. They will be a nice change of pace."

Want to create stop-motion films? We made an app for that! | Serious Play | Scoop.it

There’s just no stopping the NFB’s web developers. Hot on the heels of the NFB Films iPhone, iPad, Android and PlayBook mobile apps, our devoted developers has come up with PixStop, a fresh new app that enables you to make stop-motion films on your iPad 2. Designed to capture as many as 10,000 images, Pixstop allows you to create mini masterpieces up to 13 minutes long. Excitement!

Pixstop was originally designed for our education clientèle (NFB/education). What this means is that the app is user-friendly enough to be used in classrooms, by school-aged children.

Pixstop is available on iTunes. The app is free in Canada; $2,99 elsewhere.

KarmaTube: What the Internet Is Doing To Our Brains

KarmaTube: What the Internet Is Doing To Our Brains | Serious Play | Scoop.it

"We are bombarded by information, thanks in large part to the internet and its allied technologies. But exposure to unlimited information is not the same thing as the ability to capture it as knowledge or synthesize it as understanding. "We are living in a state of perpetual distraction," says Nicholas Carr, "which crowds out the more contemplative, calmer modes of thinking." We need these quieter, less frenetic moments to think conceptually, critically, and creatively. This video argues that digital multitasking and cute cat videos are undermining the very thought processes that are the essence of our humanity".

Presentation Zen: Never leave the playground: The key to a long, happy life

Presentation Zen: Never leave the playground: The key to a long, happy life | Serious Play | Scoop.it

"We don’t stop playing because we grow old," George Bernard Shaw said. "We grow old because we stop playing." We know—but too often forget—that play is a key component of learning and creativity (it's even good for business). Play is also the key to a healty body, a healthy mind, and a long life, says Stephen Jepson, founder of Never Leave the Playground.

Ariana Amorim's insight:

Never leave the playground is great advice.

Stephen Jepson believes the key to never losing your balance -- or your mind -- is in the games and activities of our youth. Wait until you see his incredible playground.
