What Are The 7 Elements Of Influence Power On Twitter?

What Are The 7 Elements Of Influence Power On Twitter? | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

Twitter has added 100 million users so far this year and is the platform of choice if you want to follow, search and engage with people in a particular niche or industry. In fact Twitter was never created to be a social networking platform and still today Twitter does not claim to be a social media channel stating on its blog.

“Twitter facilitates social networking, but it’s not a social networking website“.

Despite this claim it certainly is a place where you can in real time and in short sentences communicate with other people globally. It allows you to promote your content and receive feedback and if people like what they read they will retweet your tweet to their followers.

12 Most Twitterific Reasons to Participate in Tweet Chats

12 Most Twitterific Reasons to Participate in Tweet Chats | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

Keeping up with every new social media tool is like trying to catch the wind. Impossible. It reminds me of my old expense account days in the 80’s, when I was single, and we made sport of finding and trying the hottest new restaurant. That was easy compared with the onslaught of new tech hitting us so often, so much, and so without parallel in human history.

What to do? Well, we all must make choices. For the longest time, I resisted Twitter. Now I can’t live without it. I also resisted going Mac. I even resisted an iPhone. Now, I’m Apple all the way.

You Don’t Have to Tweet to Twitter

You Don’t Have to Tweet to Twitter | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

Twitter is having a remarkable year. Active users have soared to over 100 million per month, with daily actives now above 50 million. Tweets per day are over 250 million. Most top actors, athletes, and artists are all active on Twitter. Every news and sports program proudly advertises its Twitter account handle. No one would consider running for public office without a strong Twitter presence. Global news in any region breaks first and spreads fast on Twitter. Even uber-socialist Hugo Chavez of Venezuela has 2.24 million followers (which puts him slightly behind Mandy Moore, but just ahead of Queen Latifah).

So, Twitter’s traffic has been growing in leaps and bounds. It has become an indispensable tool for managing personal and corporate brands. And Twitter, along with its verb form “tweet”, have become words in everyday usage all over the world...

ThinkUp 1.0: Reclaim your tweets and Facebook posts

ThinkUp 1.0: Reclaim your tweets and Facebook posts | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

Expert Labs has released version 1.0 of ThinkUp, a program that lets people archive, search, and analyze their activity on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

And if you ask me, this is a big deal.

ThinkUp, the free, open-source brainchild of programmer and Lifehacker founder Gina Trapani, keeps track of what you've done online. It extracts the data from the walled gardens that house more and more of people's digital lives then replants it in your own garden.

The app isn't simple to install, unfortunately. You need some server administration skills so you can host ThinkUp on your own Web server or run it on an instance of Amazon's EC2 cloud-computing service. (More on that point later.)...

Twitter (Trust) research: It's Where the Money & Action is

Twitter (Trust) research: It's Where the Money & Action is | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

Bob Brown of Network World has curated news of two very interesting Twitter research projects that caught my attention.

We all agree that freedom of speech is good,  and it's great that everyone can now  become a publisher. However, there's a double-edged sword: If we speak to a friend before we think something though, all will surely be forgiven and forgotten. After all, we all make mistakes. But if you click that Tweet or Share button too quickly, either succumbing to knee-jerk reactions or without first checking the facts, you may find the digital world to be less forgiving.

Content curators have to be especially vigilent about curating someone else's content to make sure the facts and information are correct.

I believe the research related to here is essential reading, as it is furtherment of an established and growing trend:

One relates to Wellesley College's Department of Computer Science where two professors have been awarded a near half million dollar National Science Foundation grant to:

****build an application that gauges the trustworthiness of information shared on social networks, and in particular Twitter.

This was originally envisioned as a form of spammer identification, but

****has broadened to be able to determine the past history of a tweeter and also whether information being received is available from multiple sources.

The other brings us news of 'Tweetographer', a huge Data Mining project by two University of Cincinatti Computer Science students, descibed as:

"a real-time events guide extracted from information coming via large numbers of tweets."

This could be available as a web or mobile app at the end of the year and one of the co-creators, Billy Clifton (his partner is Alex Padgett)

**sees the uses expanding in the future to predict election results and compiling product reviews.

My takeaways are:

**that we all need to be very aware that what we tweet today can and may be used against us in the future

**search is still very much in its infancy when it comes to engine sophistication, stay tuned.

How to Make a "Tweet This" Link or Button

How to Make a "Tweet This" Link or Button | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

That could be very interesting to know how do that. [note mg]

Have you seen those pre-written “tweet this” links and buttons that some websites use to make sharing a tweet much faster, and give additional control to the website that created it? I’m going to show you how to make a Pre-Formatted Re-Tweet Link or Button. When a user clicks on it they will be taken to their Twitter account with your message already filled in. All that is left for them to do is send the tweet! It’s useful in several situations, and isn’t the same as the stock Twitter Re-Tweet button.

Twitter is becoming known as the place to get news before it even becomes news. Getting news before everyone else has made it a premiere place to look for content, which by default has made it a premiere place to share content.

How I became a convert to Twitter • The teaching and education community on Twitter is truly inspirational...

Twitter is a fantastic collaborative tool. As teachers, how often do we get to visit other schools? In my experience, very rarely. Twitter has enabled me to collaborate with teachers in schools across the country. Combine this with cloud services such as DropBox and Google Docs and you can create and share resources and ideas quickly and easily.

The site is also a great place for discussion. It is amazing how creative you can be in 140 characters. Teachers, academics, technologists and other experts come together on Twitter to chat and discuss a whole range of topics – you can follow and contribute to these discussions by using hash tags.

How To Send A Power Tweet That Increases Engagement by 400%

How To Send A Power Tweet That Increases Engagement by 400% | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it
There is a Twitter tool that synergizes, feeds and enhances the Twitter and Blogging ecosystems that promises to make your tweets live longer and as a marketer and a blogger that sounds like something I may be "very" interested in!

The web is a seething mass of people sharing on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and they are monster networks with hundreds of millions of participants that drive billions of shares and tweets.

It is estimated that every 20 minutes on Facebook, 1 million links are shared and each month 30 billion pieces of content are posted.

On Twitter this hyperactivity continues with 1 billion tweets shared every week.

Underneath these social media giants sits secondary and tertiary social networks and applications that feed off their activity. These platforms provide niche communities with places to play, share and explore in an ever changing landscape of ecosystems that tempt you with features and tools that are designed to engage you and addict you.

Are You a Hyper Active Social Media Participant?...

How To Build A Tribe On Twitter

How To Build A Tribe On Twitter | Serial Twitter | Scoop.it

This piece was written by Sean Platt for his blog. It is full of great information on how to use twitter and build a community of people which can result in tremendous opportunities for you.

Intro:

Because attention is so easy to gather on Twitter, and because your follower count can climb with the speed of a soaring stock, you might find yourself falling into the too typical trap of thinking Twitter’s purpose is to gather as much attention as possible. It’s not.

**Attention is great, but it’s only the end result of getting what you’re really after – quality relationships.

Here's what caught my attention:

**The best way to get the most from your Twitter conversations is to understand the ecosystem.

**Twitter isn’t a chat, it’s a never-ending party.

**When you have a conversation with someone, one-on-one, the two of you are both engaged; two listeners sharing a single conversation.

**Take time to get to know your fans. Not just because they’ve been helping you out and you want to repay the favor, but because they can help you understand more about who your audience is and how you can serve them best.

You want to find the signal through the noise, and filtering your tweets is a great way to make that happen.
