Google + Business Pages for Online Reputation Management

Google + Business Pages for Online Reputation Management | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
Why Google+ Business Pages Are Important

Google is slowly seeping Google+ content and pages into their normal search results. Due to this favoritism and the connection that is possible with the parent site, there are many implications for gaining more branded search space.

It has always been a common practice in online reputation management to work with the profiles, domains, subdomains, directories, blogs, article sites, etc. that rank well in Google. The reason being that they allow the company to gain more branded search space and reduce the amount of negative listings.

With this in mind, Google+ Business Pages are ranking incredibly well, when configured correctly of course, for branded terms. Let’s take a look.

Google has put out a new Webmaster Help video, featuring (as usual) head of web spam Matt Cutts. This time, Cutts is answering his own question, rather than a user-submitted question.

The question is: What is the ideal keyword density: 0.7%, 75, or 77%? Or is it some other number?

“A lot of people there’s some one recipe, and you can just follow that like baking cookies, and if you follow it to the letter, you’ll rank number one,” he says.

Shockingly, that’s not the case....

How to Fix Crawl Errors in Google Webmaster Tools

How to Fix Crawl Errors in Google Webmaster Tools | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
Looking at 12,000 crawl errors staring back at you in Webmaster Tools can make your hopes of eradicating those errors seem like an insurmountable task that will never be accomplished. The key is to know which errors are the most crippling to your site, and which ones are simply informational and can be brushed aside so you can deal with the real meaty problems. The reason it’s important to religiously keep an eye on your errors is the impact they have on your users and Google’s crawler.

Having thousands of 404 errors, especially ones for URLs that are being indexed or linked to by other pages pose a potentially poor user experience for your users. If they are landing on multiple 404 pages in one session, their trust for your site decreases and of course leads to frustration and bounces.

Why Your Business Needs a Mobile Website Right Now

Why Your Business Needs a Mobile Website Right Now | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
Mobile is the new frontier. Is your company ready? Here are some tips to get started. First, the good news: If you have a website, then you have a site that can be accessed by any mobile device with a browser. Now, the bad: Chances are, that site looks pretty crappy on said mobile device. If you’re worried about this, you’re not alone. Just as companies realized, circa 1996, that they needed to create a website to remain relevant to consumers, history is repeating itself in mobile. By 2013, more people will use mobile phones than PCs to get online, according to Gartner. In mid-2011, we also reached the point at which consumers were spending more time on their mobile devices than on their PCs.

A Letter From Santa To The Search Community

A Letter From Santa To The Search Community | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
Dear Search Community:

Thanks so much for your many letters to the north pole. Your nicely written texts and emails included some familiar requests from last year and some entirely new ones. Lisa and Ian, I’m very sorry, I can’t drop that referring keyword data from signed in users down the chimney. And Eric, I’m really sorry that the European Debt Crisis, which was my answer to your request from last year “Give European regulators something else to think about” didn’t really pan out.

So I’m taking time off from wrapping all those iPhone 4s and Kindle Fires to lodge some requests with the search community from Kris Kringle. I’ve been good to you over the years and it is time you helped Santa fix some of these search problems. ...

SEO: everyone agrees to disagree – right? In Online Advertising, 2011 Was the Year of Mobile [INFOGRAPHIC] | SEO Tips, Advice, Help | Scoop.it
As 2011 draws to a close, Google is taking a look back at how businesses altered their investments in online advertising. The use of mobile in physical retail environments was particularly interesting: In a study conducted with IPSOS earlier this year, eight in 10 smartphone owners said they use their devices to help with shopping, from locating retailers to running price comparisons — a trend Amazon smartly capitalized on this December by offering consumers a discount for running a price comparison on its Price Check App. A full 70% of smartphone owners claim to use their devices while in stores, and 77% have used their phones to contact local businesses.

Google announced via Twitter that Panda Updates have ceased for 2011 and will resume after the New Year.
